Elvis Cup Rd 1: Blood and Chocolate V Brutal Youth

Post by Jackson Monk »

This is an awesome tie!!!!

Could go to the wire. Many of the younger EC fans came in on Brutal Youth and it's a fairly nostalgic record. However, there are those (not me) who regard B&C as his best ever record.

It was close, but B&C has to have my vote.

I was struck by how many BY songs featured on 'Live By request', buut B&C is sure to do it.

this is a really tough one......but i guess i´ll go with brutal youth.....that album contains many of my favourites songs......
...the promise of indulgence in my confidential voice approached inmortal danger but you´ll never know how close....

After much deliberation, I have decided to go with Brutal Youth.
It nearly took a mircacle to get you to stay
It only took my little finger to blow you away.

Brutal Youth was my first EC record bought on my own when I was 15. I retain no recalled fondness for it whatsoever, apart from 'Favourite Hour', which is one of my faves. It is liked.... sporadically. Blood & Chocolate for me in this round.

Yeah, gotta be B&C...I love the revengeful venom in it, kicking off with the sound of a frantic heart beat bass and someone screaming Blood and Chocolate'...brilliant. Battered Old Bird one of the finest songs he's ever written.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Brutal Youth can do no wrong.

B&C for me. All that vitriol. Nice.

There are individual songs on BY that I love, but somehow it doesn't hang together for me as well as B&C does.

BY for me. You could put All The Rage on any album and I'll vote for it.

I love both of these albums, but Blood & Chocolate definitely takes it for me.

No contest, Blood & Chocolate (though I've recently re-evaluated BY and like it much better now, thank you). I love this album -- which was not that well received by reviewers or many fans (at least the one I knew) on its release. I always knew it was genius.
