Fall Out Boy
have sent us an exclusive announcement that Elvis Costello will be making a special appearance on their upcoming album.

Message from the Band-

At some point everyone is gonna find out. So, I guess its time to let the cat is out of the bag. We didn't want to talk about this before we actually heard it because its a once in a lifetime experience. We've announced a couple of guests on the record but "I wish you luck with a capital F" is just one of the thousands of genius ideas thought up by Elvis Costello and he's gonna be singing on Folie a Deux. This isn't a typical appearance as he's alongside the guys in a couple of the decaydance bands on the song. Either way this has been an amazing experience for fall out boy as he is one of our heroes, especially so for patrick. We can't wait for you to have the chance to hear it.

She's My Winona
America's Suitehearts
Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet
The (Shipped) Gold Standard
(Coffee's for Closers)
What a Catch, Donnie
27
Tiffany Blews
w.a.m.s.
20 Dollar Nose Bleed
West Coast Smoker

What A Catch

We have a tip-off from our favourite secret benefactor, stating that the recently confirmed Elvis Costello cameo will be featuring on none other than the biopic track What A Catch - which is scheduled for release on Tuesday.

The track will apparently feature not just Elvis C. and Gabe, but a host of Dd-related guests.

Awful song ; Elvis can be heard about 3.03 into this -

Then of course they (and by they, I mean Pete) went off and got all their friends and one of Patrick's idols to sing on this song. Which, by the way, took me several times to realize that the "Cooperstown" reprise is actually Elvis Costello and not Patrick.

Fall Out Boy makes me want to vomit, seriously. I was saddened by this.
Why don't you write about it in your blag?

Me too. I really hope he did this for money, and not for any affection towards the band.

A Australian profile of Fall Out Boy details Elvis' contribution-

http://truefobinglove.livejournal.com/251841.html

The leaked tracks do let one secret out – Elvis Costello makes a guest appearance on What a Catch, Donnie.

"He sings the reprise from another song, the song kicks in and you go 'that's from the song that was on two songs ago'," Wentz explains, clumsily. "I feel reprises should be more popular in pop music."

Costello is a hero of Fall Out Boy vocalist Patrick Stump.

"Patrick's based a lot of his melodies and ideas on Elvis," Wentz says.

However, there were no star moments in the studio.

"It's sad to demystify it but he did it over the computer via emails from San Francisco," Wentz says.

The record marks Fall Out Boy's third studio release and features vocals by Elvis Costello and Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry. But Wentz says the band never got to meet either of the music icons. "I don't mean to ruin the illusion but we didn't actually work with them" says Wentz, with an air of cool indifference.

"They recorded their stuff in a studio and then sent it to us. But yeah, Elvis Costello is still singing on one of our songs, which is cool. When you make an album it's like you have this wish list of people to work with. It's like Christmas. Santa was good to us this year."

Either Andy or Patrick from Fall Out Boy make a comment ( in a awkwardly translated extract from a Japanese publication)

'But with the other artists, we collaborated over the internet. In some cases this seems to be the best method, and Elvis Costello was just that person. He is my hero, though I did not know what sort of person he was at all. Because I like his music, and because I did not know what sort of person he was, collaborating over the internet was the best answer. It's not a rude meaning at all, I didn't want to step on his personal thing, and one should only be connected through the music, listening carefully to the works with pure feelings. I love his performance, and in person said "I'm a big fan! Your work is amazing" but something like conversation was difficult. Even though I respected him, I still felt awkward to an extent.'

There's a comment on Twitter which suggests that EC re-recorded his part for this song's appearance on the recent Fall Out Boy best-of, Believers Never Die.

And there's another post which says EC doesn't appear on the Believers Never Die version, but he's still listed in the credits.

I'm curious to know which is true.

I listened to the Believers Never Die version online, and sure enough it's got someone else singing EC's lines.

Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump has proved his fandom by naming his son Declan.
