Anyone know if this Pete Thomas is the same as...

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Anyone know if this Pete Thomas is the same as...

Post by The Macintosh Man »

...the one we all know and love? I was doing a search on Roger Whittaker records (don't ask) and came across this listing for an album called "Celebration" (note the 3rd name):

Artists
Nick Glennie-Smith (Keyboard)
Paul Keogh (Guitar)
Pete Thomas (Drums)
Peter Becket (Backup Vocals)
Lindsay Benson (Backup Vocals)
Kim Brandt (Bass)
Simon Chamberlain (Piano)
Clem Clempson (Guitar)
Nick Curtis (Backup Vocals)
Claude Desjardins (Keyboard)
Mike Francis (Guitar)
Sonia Jones (Backup Vocals)
Barry Keane (Drums)
Brian Leonard (Percussion)
Mae McKenna (Backup Vocals)
Phil Nicol (Backup Vocals)
Steve Pearce (Electric Bass)
Jim Pirie (Guitar)
Frank Ricotti (Percussion)
Eric Robertson (Keyboard)
Miriam Stockley (Backup Vocals)
Val Stokes (Backup Vocals)
James Tait (Guitar)

Thanks for the help.

No particular knowledge here, but I'd bet it is -- how many professional drummers can there be with that name in the UK? Well, lots, actually, but the fact that it's "Pete" and not "Peter" probably narrows the odds, since there a bit more formal over there. (I used to have an English boss named "Peter." NO ONE called him "Pete" -- ever!)

The drummer on this album was actually the renowned drummer/vocalist Ian Thomas. As well as this album, he's also played on George Michael's "Faith" & "Listen Without Prejudice", Scott Walker's "Tilt", S Club 7's "7", Hue & Cry's "Next Move", Finbar & Eddie Furey's "Love Letters" and my personal favourite, Rick Astley's seminal 1993 album "Body & Soul", although I hasten to add that he only provided cymbals & tom tom on the latter. Having worked on Roger's Cleberation earlier that year, I guess he was just too knackered to handle the whole kit.

Thanks, all, particularly stormwarning. Now I know that's one album I don't have to hunt down for my collection!

That may not have been 'our' Pete, but surely Clem Clempson can be the grinning, clown painted guitarist from The Sensational Alex Harvey Band?

Indeed he was. He replaced Pete Frampton.
