Elvis on Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC radio 6), Oktober 6 & 7, 2018

With Elvis Costello
Mary Anne Hobbs hosts a special Key of Life interview with Elvis Costello.
In part one of this special conversation, Elvis looks back on his childhood growing up with his father, Birkenhead's first bebop player, and his mother who worked in Liverpool record shops.
He also recalls the first time he ever performed on-stage, how he feels his voice has evolved over the years, and why he loves the "surprise of playing wrong notes".
Elvis Costello's latest LP 'Look Now' will be released on October 12, following on from his 2013 collaborative record with The Roots, 'Wise Up Ghost'.
Part two of the award-winning artist's conversation with Mary Anne will be broadcast on October 7, 2018.

Hi guys - here's the interview all cut together. It starts with familiar stuff, but gets on to the new album:

Wow, I found "Look Now" to be stunningly beautiful.
I always thought that one of the most brilliant decisions with recording Painted From memory was having "the great" Jim Keltner on drums. His Ringo-like playing really cuts through the syrupy stereotype that Burt Bacharach had in the late seventies and eighties. I notice in Look Now, that "the great" Pete Thomas takes a similar approach. Wonderful!

Another clip from this interview was just played on the Mary Anne Hobbs show this morning (circa 08:26 - so 1 hour 26 mins into the show).
Elvis talking about his favourite painting - as part of her "Art is Everywhere" programming this weekend. Then "High Fidelity" was played.

I missed the actual title of the painting, but it features Jesus on a little donkey.

Nice to see most of the forum members depicted in the crowd scene, though I think Ensor has over emphasised the size of my nose !!

That’s a brilliant idea! The picture should be redone with Forum members’ avatars. The ideal Christmas giftjardine wrote:okay everybody, cut and paste your avatar!
