London Meet Up - Saturday 25th April
It's time to come up with some new excuses and tell us why you can't attend the next London meet up which will be on Saturday 25th April.
For some of you it could be the last time you see John Foyle in his 40s...
Attending will be some of this Board's finest English, Irish, Welsh and Devonish members...
John Foyle
Neil.
Sulky Lad
Andy the Roofdog (assuming he turns up this time )
Sheeptotheslaughter
And some yet to be confirmed.
Any further takers?

Unfortunately, in the words of Simon Cowell, "it's a No from me" I'm afraid.
It's just an impossible weekend for me to be there.
Have a good 'un guys..................and have a G+T for me !

What do you guys normally do at these meet ups? I must say, talking about EC with someone who actually knows what I'm talking about and is a fan too feels great. Those moments are rare though because I only come across those people at EC concerts.
Re: London Meet Up - Saturday 25th April
Two people at the last meet up in November were in the middle of house renovations so there was a lot of talk about decorators and builders. Seriously though , it's great to talk about Elvis matters without having to put things in context and deal with comments like ' I loved Olivers Army....has he done much since then?'

Or worse. For example this conversation I had with my dad:johnfoyle wrote:Two people at the last meet up in November were in the middle of house renovations so there was a lot of talk about decorators and builders. Dad "Who is it you're going to see tonight?"
Me: "Elvis Costello".
Dad "What songs did he do?"
Me: "You don't know any? Alison? Oliver's Army?"
Dad: "Origger's Army? I've never heard of Origger's Army."

Why don't you come along and find out?!FrankieJ wrote:What do you guys normally do at these meet ups?
The unbelievably generous Sulky lad generally provides free CDs, John tells us the EC gossip (and occasionally let's is get a word in ) and I provide the glamour
The others are there to provide even more glamour.

I've must have issued all those meet ups when VG provides the glamour . I just hope this time I meet up with John , I don't end up offending persecuted women in a German bookshop or end up in front of the London Feminist parade !!

Allan Mayes hasn't responded to my invite , so I guess we'll have to struggle on without him. Chalkie Davies is in the UK for his exhibition in Cardiff. I told him about this & he said he'll let me know etc. He has a busy schedule - filming stuff for the accompanying documentary etc.

Hello all,
I've been a reader of this forum for some years now, but have not yet posted. Sorry to gate crash, but are newbies welcome at the meet up? Would be nice to chat to some like-minded folks.
Mr. Getgood.

I joined this board without knowing anybody and have made some great friends whilst being on it. And sulky as wellmood swung wrote:look at you, VG, charming complete strangers! Hope you all have a wonderful time - as always, I am with you in spirits.
Many of those friends I've physically met and many others, like yourself, I haven't been able to. But I remain optimistic.
I've been doing the meet ups for about 12 years now () and have enjoyed them all. It's more fun as we've got to know each other better.

Re: London Meet Up - Saturday 25th April
Obviously had a curse put on my journey. My train is broken and I'm still stranded in Plymouth. I had a seat booked next to the window on the side closest to the sea on the wY up too - I 'll see you all whenever I eventually get there, especially as I'm loaded with CDs!!

My train's also delayed by 10 minutes but it's ok because the train company apologises for any delay.

Re: London Meet Up - Saturday 25th April
My train company has apologised to those passengers originally booked for this train for the problems all us extra passengers have caused by joining unexpectedly , still it's not been too bad a journey and soon we'll all be talking rubbish about EC except MOOT !
