Elvis on 33 1/3 proposals list again

Post by Bad Ambassador »

This time around, Continuum publishers have allowed people to pitch on artists already given a 33 1/3 title, so even though 'Armed Forces' is already out there, 'Imperial Bedroom' has been pitched by a couple of people. Anyone here?
The full list can be found on this post from the 33 1/3 blog.
I may have a (non-Costello) vested interest in how this pans out!

Yes, I pitched "Imperial Bedroom". I didn't know I had competition though...

Just to eliminate any sense of suspense, I can tell you that neither "Imperial Bedroom" proposal made the shortlist. I guess EC isn't flavour of the month - maybe the "Armed Forces" book didn't sell.

Since I've already conducted interviews and will be doing more, I'm going to press on with my book anyway. Maybe it will end up being expanded to cover other EC and the Attractions albums. If I can't find a publisher I'll just publish it myself and sell it directly to the EC fan community.

The Chosen Eleven

Six months and one week after we started this process, I'm very pleased to announce that we've - finally - selected the proposals that will become books in the series during 2010 and 2011. They are, in no particular order:

Portishead's Dummy, by RJ Wheaton
Johnny Cash's American Recordings, by Tony Tost
Television's Marquee Moon, by Bryan Waterman
Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville, by Gina Arnold
AC/DC's Highway to Hell, by Joe Bonomo
Ween's Chocolate and Cheese, by Hank Shteamer
Radiohead's Kid A, by Marvin Lin
Dinosaur Jr.'s You're Living All Over Me, by Nick Attfield
Aretha Franklin's Amazing Grace, by Aaron Cohen
Slint's Spiderland, by Scott Tennent
The Rolling Stones' Some Girls, by Cyrus Patell
