NICK LOWE & GP were STELLAR tonight

Post by bronxapostle »

in the most awesome theater: TARRYTOWN MUSIC HALL!!! what acoustics...just wait until you hear docinwestchester's or my recording. NICK's got some little band there that plays his songs behind him immaculately. they very much remind me of RYAN ADAMS AND THE CARDINALS blue cave acousitc shows of 2007...the HIGHEST compliment! go see him if you can. GP siging the vinyl for $15 and a nice set solo from him made the night a perfect ten! too bad no duet. and great to sit with the good doctor and brother apostle too.

Great, thanks!

Any plans to attend the "mini GP & the Rumour reunion" this Thursday at Lakeside Lounge in NYC? According to the GP list:
      • This just in from GP himself:

"Three original Rumour members, Martin Belmont (guitar), Bob Andrews (keyboards) and Steve Goulding (drums)
along with bass player Jeremy Chatzky will be playing a 50 minute set at the Lakeside Lounge October 21st at 7PM
under the name Kippington Lodge Social Club. GP will be joining them for 4 or 5 numbers.
        Yikes, it's a partial GP/Rumour reunion!"

He forgot to say, but it's in New York City.

Wow that's interesting. The main problem is the 7 pm start time. That's gonna be hard for me. Later at night, I'd be there.

The show in Somerville, Mass was outstanding as well. Both played extremely well and many goosebump moments.

Any new songs?

I read an interview where Nick said he was nearly complete with writing a new album.

It's digital, ba, and sounds pretty good. I actually like mine better (surprise, surprise), so I'll be posting it too. Probably in the next day or two.

I agree completely. I was at the Tarrytown show and both Nick and GP were awesome. Gorgeous theater as well.
I hadn't bought GP's last album, Imaginary Television. But, the new songs in his set were fantastic. I just bought the album on Amazon a minute ago.

See Nick play these songs on NPR: http://www.npr.org/2010/12/08/130870090 ... sk-concert
"Man That I've Become"
"Rome Wasn't Built In A Day"
"All Men Are Liars"
"House For Sale"
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.
