Catch 22 heads big show at Webster
December 25, 2003
Elvis Costello didn't put out a record in 2003, but
Catch 22 channels him well enough on its latest album,
"Dinosaur Sounds," to compensate.
Formed in 1996, the New Jersey ska-punk band branches
out on "Dinosaur Sounds," adding bits of jazz, R&B,
soul and funk to the group's frenetic reggae backbeats
and brassy horn melodies.
The first few tracks emulate Costello's glowering
vocal style, which sits comfortably alongside Catch
22's jump-around party music.
The band is sure to do plenty of jumping around Monday
at the Webster Theatre, 31 Webster St., Hartford, as
part of a show that includes the Superspecs, Bigwig,
Fallout Boy and Punchline. Tickets are $10; doors open
at 3 p.m. Information: 860-525-5553.
