He popped up to say he was off to see Ron S at the Shepherd's Bush Empire the other week and did anyone fancy joining him. I would have loved to, but prudence got the better of me.
Lapinsjolis is very much present on Flickr creating her interesting collage photo pieces (under the same name as she was here). I think she got disillusioned with the board, especially the tendency of certain people to be horribly unpleasant for no reason whatsoever.
Come back Hungup Strungup!
Stormy boy is alive and well and recently seen by 4 of us, and pops up to make Bowie-related posts, generally involving stalking him since I told him where he could be found!
We'll never know what happened to the noble Narbawlz and his horrible lung (I think) condition.
I raise a glass to all the hours of sleep this lovely board has made absent from my life!

...or maybe he got a life!
While I’d like to think I ran all these people off, I know I only ran off a few of them, probably Hung Strung anyway.
One learns a lot from a message board like this…about themselves and about other people. I come and go because I get tired of pissing off otherwise innocent posters. The truth is, unless there’s an ugly row going on, it’s kind of boring for me around here. Yes, because I’m an asshole.
A powerful lesson to be learned here is the pointlessness of opinion. I found myself unable to respond to the poetry posted by 25to12 over on Tin Pan. Why? Because I might have an opinion about it. My opinions are like my farts…wholly unwelcome except by me.
People leave the bondage of a message board for many reasons…time, anger, boredom, loneliness. I come and go here because I hate the human race, and I don’t care what anyone says, that’s an Elvis Costello kind of attitude.
I belong, but I don’t have to be here.
Hail the ToySoldier.

Of farts and men...
Farts are the announcement of bigger things to come.
Elvis loves the human race? What was This Year's Model all about, then? Is River in Reverse a testament to his adoration of mankind? Come on...
Ooops..opinion...stinky!

It was about art and becoming a star. Don't let that hate stuff fool you, it was just image.A rope leash wrote:Elvis loves the human race? What was This Year's Model all about, then?

Um, dude, I think they're agreeing with you.
In any case that was nearly 30 years ago-- it's just possible he may have developed (as human beings tend to do, thank God) a bit since then, and will develop more in the following 30.
If I don't develop significantly over the coming 30 years, you all have my permission and encouragement to please take me out back and shoot me.

?
You see, that's the thing, I don't get the impression that EC was ever much of a hater. Or else he would have tripped up very early and exposed himself as a real fool and not had the resolve to keep going and get anywhere. He was cocky, had some smart ideas, and the nerve to follow through with them. Not some kind of wounded, hating loser. He used a certain image to protect and establish himself.

I love opinion, nice and strong, I'm just not into misanthropy. Life's too short for that stuff.A rope leash wrote:Ooops..opinion...stinky!
