John Prine, last night. Have I mentioned that yet? Let me say a big public THANK YOU to oily slick who, somehow, some way, found out about the ticket presale before me and brought it to my attention. JP presales work like this: you buy and are promised tickets somewhere in the first 6 rows, which you cannot pick up until one hour before showtime. So, I had no idea where we were sitting, I was just hoping to get as close as possible. So, I pick up the tickets and read 'PT104' and thought, fuck, we're on P and that is NOT on the first 6 rows. Heads will roll! So, then, I go to the restroom and I'm slightly calmer and I peruse the ticket again. There's this part that says 'orchestra'. I begin to get excited. I tell my husband 'we're in the pit!' thinking ok, folding chairs four rows back. So, we get drinks and head for our seats. Onstage is this lady doing what I can only describe as a hillbilly poetry slam and she's pretty good, but it's not something I want to hear a lot of. We get the usher to show us where we are sitting, and excuse my french, but jesus christ we are sitting right in the veryfuckingfront row in the veryfuckingcenter. John Prine will be standing DIRECTLY in front of ME!!!!
OK, so most of you know that this is, no matter if JP comes out and does 3 solid hours of Porter Waggoner's greatest hits, going to be the highlight of my musical year. Decade. Quite possibly lifetime. And it was just fantastic. He enjoys himself so much, you'd have to be dead not to have a good time. This was mostly a "hits" show, not that he has any, but he played all Those Songs. He did Storm Windows, and looked directly at me singing 'don't let your baby down.' I also got the 'Marie!' part from Lake Marie, plus lots of others.

Best was a groovy version of Ain't Hurtin' Nobody and a really rowdy Bear Creek. It was an evening of awesomeness. Absolute awesomeness.
Thanks, OS! I love you in a very platonic way!
Like me, the "g" is silent.
