Elvis on Saturday Kitchen 15th January 2022
'Matt Tebbutt and chefs Freddy Bird and Anna Jones are joined by special guest Elvis Costello. There are great moments from the BBC food archive, including clips from Rick Stein, Keith Floyd, Nigella Lawson and Mary Berry, and drinks expert Helen McGinn joins via video link to pick the wines to go with the studio dishes'.
Presumably Helen McGinn will have to select some non-alcoholic wines.

Bless him, he could probably compile a DVD purely from his TV appearances to promote this LP.

Wow is EC finally becoming a celebrity?! Thank god Strictly isn’t on at the moment...!
It's not a matter of life or death. But what is, what is?

I hope his dancing is better than his acting!

Wow, this really takes the cake - and the biscuit! I hope it leads to some sales for him.

Through the doorway ROSCO DE VILLE. He is dressed up, pacing nervously, talking to himself. His rabbit hutch is on the table . Next to his pigeons. And a glass of water.
ROSCO DE VILLE: Good evening, ladies and … good evening ladies and gentlemen. Good evening! Ladies and gentlemen. Good – (sees Mike and Broken Nose staring at him.)
Ah, Good evening. (A table tennis ball drops out of his sleeve). Rosco De Ville.
BROKEN NOSE: (As if describing a disease) Novelty act.
ROSCO: I do a bit of everythin’ actually, but I’m worried about me rabbit. It’s just sort of the highlight of me act, me rabbit.
MIKE: Sod y’rabbit, can y’ sing country an’ western?
ROSCO: Everythin’ apart from singin’, I should have said.
ROSCO: An’ er, me rabbit’s sick. A touch.
MIKE: We’ll put y’ on in the middle. An’ we’ll have a vet standin’ by.

In 2012 Elvis & Diana contributed a recipe to a book, raising funds for a charity.

Well...to be fair, it's more of an 'idea' than a 'recipe'.

Re: Elvis on Saturday Kitchen 15th January 2022
Nigella Lawson got a bit of a kicking a while back for posting a 'recipe' which basically said: butter your toast twice. The first time to let the butter soak into the hot toast, the second time to 'dot' it with blobs of butter. I'm sure it would taste great (and lead to an early death) but she did get a lot of sarcastic comments for offering it as a 'recipe'.bronxapostle wrote:Lol...I agreeHawksmoor wrote:Well...to be fair, it's more of an 'idea' than a 'recipe'.

Put an egg on Nigella's double buttered toast and that would be my 'Food Hell'. I dont eat eggs nor butter.Hawksmoor wrote:Nigella Lawson got a bit of a kicking a while back for posting a 'recipe' which basically said: butter your toast twice. A woman in a chippie told me you should salt your fish and chips first, then put vinegar on, then salt them again. Sadly she didnt look anything like the lovely Nigella

In terms of dairy products, I guess I'm the opposite of you - a poached egg on a piece of thick toast dripping with butter might even be my 'Food Heaven'.sheeptotheslaughter wrote:Put an egg on Nigella's double buttered toast and that would be my 'Food Hell'. I dont eat eggs nor butter.

The double-salting thing sounds weird when you read it, but thinking about it, when they traditionally call out 'salt and vinegar on your chips?' I always answer 'yes'. Then when I get home, always give the chips a minute in the microwave (I can only eat chip-shop chips if they're piping hot), then S+V them again.
Suspect that buttered toast and chip-shop chips will not be on Elvis' list for Saturday. Think he'll want to show off his knowledge of international cuisine.

I watched this last night. I thought it looked quite fun.

Re: Elvis on Saturday Kitchen 15th January 2022
Managed to catch the start and saw Elvis choose his Food Heaven/Hell, but then had to go out. Was there any performance or music clips or was it just food & drink chat all the way through?
