I arrange mine by degrees of attractiveness of the individual/group.
For groups I rate each member of the group and then apply an average, with weightings based on male/female, bodily hair and think of the first number I thought of.
It makes for an eclectic porn, I mean CD, collection.

Do get a laugh out of Verbal's perscribed method. I am more a genre organizer like many others here. The total lot seems to spill into various rooms throughout the house- piles here and there, bookcases and shelves loaded, drawers stuffed with excess. I like the randomness of that as I can stumble on some 'treasure' that I have not played in years should the mood strike. The 'essentials' have a place of honor in my study/living room- primed for ready access and 'spinning'. As I look around now I recognize it is time to recycle a good many with a trip to Rhino Records in New Paltz. Many have overstayed their welcome!!!
