'10 cds of new Costello recordings hidden in stores' -found!
Re: '10 cds of new Costello recordings hidden in stores' -fo
There seems to be some confusion between the "Hidden CDR known as 30:10" and the "iTunes Originals" both from 2007 or are they the same?
The track listing mentioned in previous postings in this thread is almost the same as the track listing for the "iTunes Originals" posted on the Elvis Costello info wiki site, can someone shed a light on this please?

30:10
30:10 is an album of solo reworkings of Elvis Costello's older songs. Ten CDRs were reportedly hidden inside random copies of the 2007 compilation The Best Of Elvis Costello The First 10 Years.
Five songs — Pump It Up, High Fidelity, (I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea, Alison, and Almost Blue — became available in the members-only section of ElvisCostello.com on July 24, 2008.
Elvis Costello quoted in The Tennessean, 2007-09-06:
"I recorded some new melodies for some of my older songs, and for a gag I recorded them on just a cassette player. And I didn't have a microphone so I plugged in headphones into the tape recorder, because you switch them backwards, they work as a microphone. I didn't want to be like a Luddite, so I put them on a CDR, and I put 10 of the CDRs in 10 copies of the best of record that we released in April, and hid 'em in the shops in America, just to see whether anybody bought records anymore. And as nobody's found 'em yet and it's now September, I guess nobody buys records anymore. But somewhere somebody's gonna get a little surprise one of these days . . . They're gonna be in Wal-Mart or somewhere, and they're gonna buy one of these records and they're gonna discover a little free gift from me. . . . There's not enough fun with the business of music. It's all very serious. The record thing for as long as it's gonna last, it needs a little mischief put back into it."
Elvis Costello on his official website, 2008-04-22:
"Ever since I hid ten copies of 30:10 - solo home recordings of re-written songs - in the jewel boxes of the "Best Of" collection released in the Spring of ‘07 and then waited in vain for one of them to surface, I'd realized that it was time to do things differently…
I don't think many people believed that 30:10 really existed but if anyone reading this has one in their possession, they had better claim their special prize right away because we will be posting the songs on this site very soon and the offer will expire…"

This might be as a coincidence to the fact that a picture of a copy surfaced on instagram recently

A few more details from the finder -
https://twitter.com/laurxduh/status/709944076058005504
it was in a cd for the Best Of: The First 10 Years. Open the case to find this on top of the Best Of cd
I'm still waiting for a response to a offer to facilitate a copy etc.

I have trouble believing that is the 30:10 tracklist, since it doesn't include any of the songs that appeared on elviscostello.com identified as 30:10 recordings ("Almost Blue," "Alison," "Chelsea," "High Fidelity," and "Pump It Up").
But if there really is a CD with EC-sung versions of "Just a Curio" and "This Is a Test," I want to hear it.

I agree with anct. It makes no sense to me either. Especially since there are two songs not written by EC.

I too find these dozen, rather IMPOSSIBLE to fathom as being re-invented by EC and included upon this 30:10 cd. HECK, the originals (IF THEY ARE IN EXISTENCE, some are not!) are oblique enough. in fact, so rare are these twelve, that I have only seen five live! we await STILL!!!

Doesn't the set list seem a bit of a jest starting like a cheap Murder Mystery with clues and tricks along the way ? I think this list is a wind up ! There are too many poor ins on the theme of not knowing - I could suggest The Great Unknown as the final track to be honest

Does any lucky EC fan have the 30 10 tracks? I wanted to hear them but no luck finding them.
