What this world needs is more silly men.
I'll chime in on Time (The Revelator) and add that it's good to see Gillian & David getting some love on the board.

Soothing music for thy soul:
Buena Vista Social Club- can't understand shit, but it sounds happy and puts me on a beach smoking a cuban and having tropical drink. GREAT music and harmonies.
Marc Ribot and the Prosthetic Cubans, same idea as above
Nick Lowe, certainly any of his work; Convincer is 5 star; Now you're waiting in the hall, and I'm on the stair, looking at you, from above, and I say darling just for a change, lets stay in and make love.
Cake- they always get me dancing and shaking my 36 year old ass
Mr. Bob Marley - duh
The friggin Stones
Sinatra
Tony Bennett
The Ramones take any blues away.
or The Cramps! little Lux Interior to lighten the mood. Lets Get Fucked Up! Put that song on . . .
Neil Young is always soothing. Takes me somewhere else.
Bluegrass music is my latest penchant.

As I recall, Buena Vista contains a bilingual wordlist, so you can check out the meanings. I learned a new (presumably Cuban) term for 'butt' from Chan Chan, which is 'jibe' (pron 'he-bay'). Chan Chan is a masterpiece of an opener. Good ol' Compay. I love the Wenders film as much as the record itself, and the Compay and Ruben interviews are two of the absolute highlights. Sadly now departed. It was a delight to see Ruben live in the 90s.
