Ethridge rocked. She truly gave across the impression that she was not only glad to be alive, but determined to make all of us that way too. As for Norah- she's pleasant enough, and that's all I have to say about that. "Across the Universe" was terrible- I've seen too many all-star song parodies on SNL to take it seriously. But, if it raises a few bucks for tsunami relief, then that's OK by me. Usher's a good dancer. Billie Joe needs a haircut. Larry Mullen speaks! And Ray Charles is this year's Carlos Santana, except Ray is actually dead and only Carlos' career was. The way I can tell that this was a non-event is because no one at school today is talking about it at all- no buzz. And oh yeah, I liked John Mayer's performance, he's a good player.
I like Norah Jones, but I found her a lot more appealing before she hit the bigtime. She seemed a lot more down to earth and you could sense it through her music.
I can't stand Melissa Etheridge, but I'm glad she's healthy.

This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Melissa Etheridge has never moved me one way or the other, but she delivered a phenomenal performance. It was impressive.
Yes, and is he freakishly tall, or is Loretta Lynn freakishly short?mood swung wrote:

i think the "across the universe" thing was a parody, wasn't it pophead? surely. what a trainwreck. i passed through periodically and saw little with only melissa etheridge bringing me out of the other room where i was working on a sewing machine (see what you have to look forward to young fellers) to where the tv is. i don't get the norah jones acclaim yet either spooky, but i'll keep trying. poor thing looked scared to death during the parody. i have no idea who won anything though i was certain beforehand elvis wouldn't. bono wasn't all geeked up for the vertigo prize; that was good.

which reminds me of an old story i just love to tell. tom snyder had him on the old Tomorrow show ages ago and asked him how he felt in looking back on marrying his 13 year old cousin and the first thing out of his mouth was "what most people didn't realize was that she was almost 14."

Both Norah Jones records are lovely collections of romantic songs. What she does isn't groundbreaking, but she does it very well. And I like how much country influence has leaked into the newer material. But then, she's from around here and I'm always partial to local boy/girl makes good stuff.

Yes, Gwen Stefani has L.A.M.B., a clothing line. But she chose to wear her husband's shirt and some crappy belt-like things in the opening performance. And heels that look like they could be used to stab someone to death.
I don't get it.
News reports are saying this was the lowest rated Grammys show in ten years. Is anyone really surprised by that...?

And on a related note - am I the only one who's never, until today, heard of a 40-somethig-year-old being "rushed to hospital with flu"?
