So I was at Best Buy today to pick up a movie (Arthur...friends of mine hadn't seen it so naturally I was aghast), and of course I couldn't go in there without snagging a couple of cd's as well.
I picked up:
Copperhead Road - Steve Earle
Mule Variations and Closing Time - Tom Waits
Gotta say after a quick run through on each Mule Variations is my favorite thus far. What have you all bought recently?

A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fuckin' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on.

Neil Young - On The Beach
The Proclaimers - Persevere
The Beach Boys - SmileySmile/Wild Honey (2 albums on one cd remastered)
On my shopping list for next week are the three EC reissues, the new Super Furries, and the Sleepy Jackson album (anybody heard this? I'm getting it on the strength of a couple of reviews)

Got the new Tom Ovans album yesterday. Vastly underrated artist, really tells it like it is, every house should have a few of his albums.

Well, Neil Young is someone who I always think I should like, but I've never really been struck (admittedly I've only ever had a couple of compilations), something about his voice I think. However I decided to get On The Beach after the thread on which quite a few said what a good album it is, and it is excellent, so thank you. I don't think Celine would add a great deal, but who knows..........
What should be my next venture into NY be?
Anyway, now for some more gloating. You won't get it for another 4 weeks MS, gloat gloat gloat. And we get the EC reissues before you gloat gloat gloat, and North gloat gloat gloat.
kindest regards
Billy Gloat

I accidentally bought a few CD's when I went to fnac to pick up a birthday present for a friend of mine:
"Mods" soundtrack--little-known sixties songs. Little-known by me, anyway.
Le Nombre-French indie-rock.
The Sleepy Jackson-perfect summer indie-pop
And then a week before that, fnac was having a sale...
Air-Virgin Suicides soundtrack
Joy Division-Substance
Interpol-Turn on the Bright Lights
The Raveonettes
The Thrills-So Much for the City
Sonic Youth-Daydream Nation
...and one other, which I forget.

How is Strays? I love Jane's Addiction, and I even really liked both Porno for Pyros albums. I never heard the Perry Ferrel solo effort (though I ordered it the other day for $1 on Amazon).
How does it stand up to Nothing's Shocking and Ritual?
