Wow. Who knew Elvis would put his driver's license photo on an album cover?

I want to say something good about this because I really do love Elvis, but did they take that shot at the police station?

It obviously was a DUI arrest.

Sorry, Elvis.

Actually, I thought it was one of the more flattering photos of him I'd seen in a while. Certainly better than the near-shaved head he had for When I Was Cruel.

Now where the hell's the cover for Delivery Man, assuming that's what they're still calling it?

Ummmm. . .yeah. All the shadowing is around the hairline and all the wrinkles are around the eyes! Sort of looks like a zoomed-in shot of the sleeve of TYM, only more craggy! Great expression but bad photography!

Now, where's the advance shot of the Deliveryman cover???

This image is so right for this release. Deutsche Gramaphon know they have to grab attention - this cover certainly does it. To us fans its provocative because it seems to show an unlikely pose , adopting a rather rough pose for a classical cover , something we might usually expect to be more polished. To the unknowing it is a very clear identification that this is going to be different , a classical piece by someone whos image is more usually associated another musical genre.

The basic fact is that is gets attention ; it has , therefore , served its purpose.

He looks innocent. His face says: "I wouldn't dare compose a pretentious classical album..."

I was taught never to downlight someone with a big nose. Clearly, this photographer wasn't.

I'll bet my new iPod mini (go away, it's mine!) that isn't the official cover. Or, they'll at least fiddle about with it a little.

Quite so

i thought the art department may have moved in with the shiny &/or blurred 'modernist' images that have adorned the DG 20/21 series in the last few years. But THIS is much better - for all the reasons you give john.

it looks very like the style of a Deutsche Grammophon album cover from around, hmmm, say 1954.

Stop pouting, Oatie. If you play nice maybe I'll let you share it.

I might sound crazy now, but I have a feeling it's not a photograph, rather a painting by ??, who uses airbrushes for that uber-realistic look. I saw a showing of her (I'm sure it's a woman) work at the Lowry in Manchester last year, and they're absolutely amazing. Can't remember her bloody name now.

It's a bit intense innit....might be embarrsing to buy if it wasn't only available in those glassed-off sealed sections for classical and opera music in the shops.

I thought it might have at least had a picture of EC dressed as Bottom.

Or Puck. Or Titania.

POP: OK, I'll lend you my Bowie 30th anniversary reissues, and you send me your mini for a month. How many songs is it meant to take, and how many have you got on it? And what were the first 5 CDs you simply had to put on it?

Anyone else got any questions for POP's mini iPod?

iPod, I Robot, I Claudius. Clever, innit?
