Uncle Taz *now with pictures!*
Uncle Taz *now with pictures!*
Well, my sister had her first baby on the 4th of July (and we're such an anti-patrotic family...the irony). He was 6 lbs 14 ounces (apparently that means something to people as everyone constantly asks) and is named Joseph James (my late fathers name) Stanley (their big hockey fans) McKenna. Currently I'm at their computer burning cd's for them that are 'mellow' to play for the baby as they don't want to use TV as background noise.
The current list:
EC - All This Useless Beauty
EC - Spike (demo version for the acoustic/softer tracks)
Ron Sexsmith - Cobblestone Runway
Ron Sexsmith - Used Songs
John Williams - The Guitarist
John Williams - Classic Williams
Roy Orbison - Greatest Hits
Willy Porter - Falling Forward (saw this guy open for Jeff Beck and I swear his guitar almost stole the show...and from Jeff that's saying something)
Any other ideas go ahead and shoot em up, I'll forward them onto my sister so we can mold this child a bit...then take over the world...muahahahaha
Oh...and I'll have pictures of the kid (sorry, child, my mom hates it when I say kid, something to do with the goat reference) later in the week.

A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fuckin' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on.

Re: Uncle Taz
That'll be 'Other Songs', unless you're alarming the babe with Tom Waits. Congrats, unc.taz wrote:Ron Sexsmith - Used Songs

Congratulations, Taz. Being an uncle is great. When he gets older you'll be able to relate to him in ways that his parents can't, because their his parents and you're not
Anyway, I would give them some Mozart CDs. Listening to Mozart is supposed to help their little brains develop. My son used to love Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (sp.?) I would set the CD player in his room to repeat the first movement over and over again and he would fall asleep to it.

Alright...here are two pictures of the little guy, I'll have more up once I can resize them...fortunately he looks nothing like me...

When my daughter was an infant, she had trouble being put to sleep at night and the only way my wife and I could get her to nod off was to sway her to the strains of "The Other End of The Telescope". She is now 8 years old and no longer has any apparent affinity for the tune, however!!!(Although she still likes EC, she now prefers the Dixie Chicks, Nora Jones and Sheryl Crow. "Girls rule; boys drool!")

What a handsome little one!
The wonderful thing about being an uncle/aunt it having the ability to give them back when they start asking for the car or to borrow money...
