here's another little ditty i've had for a long time. i was dubbing some stuff off and this little gem was at the end of the reel so i thought while it was at hand, i'd transfer it and offer it here. this is the count basie orchestra recorded at the red parrot club in nyc in august of 1983. this is the audio taken from a tv broadcast and it's all i have. i've never seen the video but i'm sure it exists. joining basie is elvis costello and tony bennett. quite a combination. it's only about 30 minutes but well worth grabbing.as with many jazz shows, i know the songs but can't recall the titles. some are well known but i just can't remember the names so hopefully we'll get some help. i seemed to recall that something from this might have been released but after much searching and some help from fellow dimer and good friend, lilpanda, we haven't found any mention of any portions of this that came out.
