Re: Live At The El Mocambo to be re-released

Elvis has got to get you on stage, dglenn. Pure nostalgia but a hoot for one evening. Can we now not out the first Glaswegian who ever bellowed 'Psycho'? Any other memorable audience participants?

Re: How many times have you met Elvis and what have you aske

Only once and too embarassed to engage in conversation. Waited outside Glasgow Barrowlands in 94 having missed my train home; thanked him, shook his hand and, while raising mine, dropped my Brutal Youth tour tee in a puddle. Shambled off and walked round Glasgow for a few hours till first train back...

Re: How to get Elvis on Larry Sanders out on DVD

"Everybody Loves Larry" one of my favourite episodes - the Duchovny + Jon Stewart scenes are wonderful. All time favourite is the "Hank Kingsley - International Cigar Smuggler" ep featuring Ben Stiller. I have most shows on grainy VHS - great to see each season seep out on DVD - ...

Re: Elvis & The Sugarcanes, Gateshead (UK), June 30, 2010

Review from the local Shields Gazette: "by Terry Kelly THE other Elvis launched last night's brilliant musical cocktail with a Sun Records classic by The King. Looking dapper in grey suit and tie, with a white hat perched on his head, Costello shouted "How are you?" to his Tyneside fa...

Wonderful evening. Been a long, hot and sticky day so knacked and off to bed. Sorry I don't have a complete setlist to hand (first set v similar to Liverpool's) but solo 'Oliver's Army' an unexpected joy. Thanks, you guys, a fantastic night.

Look, I think we should correspond privately but before we do, please list the anti-semitic comments made on this board. You say there are lots: refresh our memories.

Re: Elvis cancels shows in Israel , June/July '10

Rachel, EC is coming to Gateshead the night he was due to play his first night in Israel. I'm going with friends but wish it wasn't in these circumstances. There have been lots of heartfelt comments on this thread (yaniv etc) expressing doubt, hurt or disappointment around this decision - they've ma...

Board, she's bonkers, can we not get rid of this? Or is she allowed to spew these vile allegations about anti-semitism?

Re: Elvis cancels shows in Israel , June/July '10

[ So surely, if Elvis wanted to avoid taken a side at the conflict, he failed quite miserably. I hope he at least will release a statement that he's against every use of his name as an anti-Israeli symbol, and that he does not wish to take a side on this matter. Because today, 3 different people as...

Re: Elvis cancels shows in Israel , June/July '10

And third, if EC had any doubts about performing here, he shouldn't have agreed in the first place. I disagree. It was a thoughtful and heartfelt statement by someone who's clearly swung back and forth with this and I would guess still has nagging doubts about his ultimate decision. Elvis makes cle...

Sweet Harmonies

Have waited a long time for Elvis to lead a semicompetent vocal group. 'Brilliant Mistake' is still one voice short off perfection (probably mine) but it's wonderful to hear the big E complimented so beautifully. Would sound wonderful at The Sage, Gateshead late August but whenever he wants to give ...
