Unfortunately it was was a web exclusive. If it was broadcast on TV it would be relatively easy to track down a torrent of the episode but unfortunately there's no chance of finding it now unless someone had the foresight to capture it from Hulu or the Jimmy Fallon website before it was taken down. I've looked everywhere with no luck.

makes sense...thanks VOICE! you saved me the trouble of looking through endless UNLABELLED vhs tapes.

Re: Elvis Costello and The Roots - mp3 compilation for downl
Slightly off-topic, but I've asked several times before so I might as well throw in another attempt just in case...
I recall EC & Bacharach's appearance on Letterman back in 1998 when he played "I Still Have That Other Girl" being PHENOMENAL, a particularly strong performance. But I don't have a copy and it's not anywhere to be found online. If anyone out there with a VHS collection could ever upload this somewhere, it is sort of one of the things I'm always hoping will show up somewhere.
To make it slightly more on-topic: if EC & The Roots do any concerts, I'd kind of love it if they did a new arrangement of one of the songs from PFM! "In The Darkest Place" or "Toledo" or "The Sweetest Punch" or even "The Long Division."

I remember your request for the 1998 Letterman appearance and I don't have it. It's nowhere on the internet either. Maybe benny can find it in his pile of unlabelled VHS tapes.

Elvis looks blown away by his own talent at the end of that performance!

I don't want to get your hopes up but there's a dude on MySpleen that uploads a lot of Letterman episodes from the 80's and 90's, I'll shoot him a message about it.
Re: Elvis Costello and The Roots - mp3 compilation for downl
(It's the 9/28/1998 episode of Letterman... Other guests: Fran Drescher & Chris Kattan)
I'd also be shocked if EC & The Roots played a song from PFM, but that's why it would be awesome!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Costello NAILS it! He played this song on several different UK television shows around this time (usually with Steve Nieve) but this is the one I remember where I really felt like he knocked it out of the park.

Looks like I got Beaten To The Punch with the Letterman clip, but here is that Chelsea with The Roots:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzYSS32j ... e=youtu.be
DISCLAIMER: This thing was just not downloadable at the time it was available. So it was grabbed the only way I could, which was by filming the computer with a camcorder. So it ain't real pretty. But at least you can see how it looked, kinda.
I think I've figured out how to upload videos now, so if anyone is ever looking for a TV appearance or something and can't find it, drop me a line and I'll be glad to help. Almost all of them will be better quality than this!

Nice job Dave. I took your video and dubbed the broadcast audio, so it sounds better but loses a bit of video quality:
