THE WHO ANNOUNCE FINAL U.S. SHOW: WHO CARES BENEFIT FOR TEEN CANCER AMERICA AND MEMORIAL SLOAN-KETTERING CANCER CENTER
LEGENDARY BAND TO BE JOINED BY ACCLAIMED SINGER/SONGWRITER ELVIS COSTELLO & THE IMPOSTERS FOR THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28 CONCERT AT THEATER AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
Legendary rockers THE WHO and Elvis Costello & The Imposters will perform an intimate concert Thursday, February 28 at New York City’s The Theater at Madison Square Garden to benefit Teen Cancer America and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Teen Cancer America is igniting a movement around changing the way teens and young adults with cancer are treated and supported from the point of diagnosis. Funds raised from the February 28 benefit concert will go towards helping hospitals develop units designed to give the very best chance of a positive outcome both physically and emotionally. In addition to state-of-the-art facilities to keep patients occupied during long stays in hospital, the units will strive to provide an environment where they can meet others in a similar situation, helping to support their transition between teen and adulthood.
This represents the first-ever New York-area fundraiser THE WHO have performed for Teen Cancer America; Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are the driving force behind Teen Cancer America. After more than a decade of working with Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK, they bring their passion for making a difference in the lives of teens and young adults with cancer to the United States. This special show marks THE WHO’s final 2013 U.S. show (where they’ll perform their greatest hits).
For details on THE WHO’s current “Quadrophenia & More” tour, go to http://www.aeglive.com.
Tickets and VIP packages for the February 28 fundraiser go on sale Saturday, February 2 at http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1D004 ... did=tca201. Ticketmaster is happy to be a participant donor for THE WHO’s February 28 show benefiting Teen Cancer America at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. They are waiving convenience fees for fans purchasing VIP packages.

i surrender....what's another $144 on the credit card. and i have seen THE WHO every decade since the 1970's as well. it should be a good night. i don't know why they did not make this a 7:30 start time. EC & the boys deserve an hour and i imagine they will it get it in this opening slot on the benefit bill. but, don't be late folks...punctual ELVIS will probably hit the stage 7:55. see you there.

It's the first NYC area non-wheel show in since April Fools Day 2011 at Gramercy Theatre (I think).monkey2man wrote:jeez! If it's half as good as that show, I'll be quite satisfied.

well doc, i too can only hope it's half as good as Gramercy! i'm just hoping we get the solid ONE HOUR IMPOSTERS set. it would be a plain shame if it gets trimmed to less. usually. in this type of double headliner (though naturally a notch behind the legendary THE WHO!) benefit, he will get the whole hour. i'm just befuddled that they did NOT make it a 7:30 start time. that half hour surely would be better served with E & the boys upon the stage. please all...do NOT be surprised if he DOES hit the stage 7:50. GET THERE in a timely manner.

that Gramercy show was killer! I was about three bodies back, stage left for that one. Honestly, I wasn't even expecting an hour on this Who show, maybe 45 min, but I hope you're right.bronxapostle wrote:well doc, i too can only hope it's half as good as Gramercy! i'm just hoping we get the solid ONE HOUR IMPOSTERS set. it would be a plain shame if it gets trimmed to less. usually. in this type of double headliner (though naturally a notch behind the legendary THE WHO!) benefit, he will get the whole hour. i'm just befuddled that they did NOT make it a 7:30 start time. that half hour surely would be better served with E & the boys upon the stage. please all...do NOT be surprised if he DOES hit the stage 7:50. $150 - bargain. Have fun. I just got parking ticket for $98 today with an odd note written in broken english. You collect ticket stubs, while I collect parking tickets and odd ball notes left on my car. I think I will start a collection. Rock on. Report the word from the show. Wish I could be there.
