Just watching this programme from BBC4 tonight. Elvis and The Atttactions feature quite a bit.

The latest episode, Part 3 "We’re the Kids in America" (10th February 2012) covers 1976 through the mid-80s and includes a 3-minute segment on EC & the Attractions with footage from 20/20 and SNL and recollections from both EC and Pete.

I enjoyed this programme, which seemed to present a plausible account of which UK bands succeeded in the US and which did not. However, there was (for me) a glaring omission - The Clash.

I suspect they did not fit with the overriding thesis that only those bands who sucked up to the radio stations and record company executives, toured from the East Coast to the West and looked good on MTV, had any long term success.
