Przyjedzie Elvis Costello

Autor intrygujących i niejednoznacznych tekstów często nawiązujących do literatury.

Może pochwalić się współpracą z między innymi Paulem McCartneyem, Brianem Eno, The Attractions czy Burtem Bacharachem, nominowaną do Oscara piosenką "The Scarlet Tide" z filmu "Cold Mountain" i wieloma przebojami, z których najbardziej znane to: "Veronica", "Everyday I Write The Book", "(I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea", "Pump It Up", "Less Than Zero", "She", "The Other Side Of Summer", "Oliver's Army" czy "So Like Candy".

Bilety na koncert Elvisa Costello w Warszawie kosztują 100, 200, 310 i 390 zł.
Or in "English" via Google Translate:
Elvis Costello will come

15 November in Warsaw's Congress Hall will be the only concert in Poland, Elvis Costello.

Present at the scene for almost 40 years. First, associated with pub rock, then assigned to the punk movement, and then filed as a representative of mainstream new wave. He never zaprzątał my head labels - regardless of prevailing trends, recorded extremely eclectic music that range extended from pop to the folk.

Author intriguing and ambiguous texts are often referring to the literature. By some described as "a walking encyclopedia of pop music, the other compared to Bob Dylan - is without doubt one of the most innovative and influential composers of the last century.

In Poland, Elvis Costello is more commonly known as the husband of singer Diana Krall jazz, but the British Isles has a well-deserved respect.

His discography consists of almost three dozen albums, which sold a total circulation of 12 million copies. Can boast of working with, inter alia, Paul McCartney, Brian Eno, The Attractions, or Burt Bacharach, the Oscar-nominated song "The Scarlet Tide" from the movie "Cold Mountain" and many hits, the most famous are: "Veronica," "Everyday I Write The Book "," (I Do not Want To Go To) Chelsea "," Pump It Up, "" Less Than Zero, "" She, "" The Other Side Of Summer, "" Oliver's Army "or" So Like Candy. "

Tickets for the Elvis Costello concert in Warsaw, costing 100, 200, 310 and 390 zł.

What happened to August, September and October? And ECs gig in Amsterdam?

I missed a few birthdays, not least my own and mini VGs.

No john - this was part of the joke.

IP's post is about a setlist for November 15th 2011 which has been posted on 16th August.

I was merely wondering what IP's post related to. If he was posting a setlist for November 15th 2011 then I must have been in a Rip Van Winkle type state, thereby missing some birthdays and EC's gig in Amsterdam.

Well, having nothing else to do I thought of a possible setlist for November show in Warsaw.
Except that about one hour later I wanted to change 1/3 of it. :D
It just shows how damn difficult it is to limit yourself to just 30 songs from Elvis' brilliant catalogue.

The show in Poland is cancelled "due to the very serious illness of a close family member".

Strange, as all shows "around" Warsaw date seem to go ahead as planned.

Can you verify this Polish cancellation? I can't find it.

I've paid for my Amsterdam gig. Flight, tickets, airport parkin. I am severely worried if this is true as it does not bode well...

Thanks for the link.

However it just says the show is cancelled. Is there anywhere that states it's due to family illness? It could be just poor ticket sales that have led to the cancellation.

Ever the optimist, all I am saying is that there is nothing on Elvis' website to say this has been cancelled and it only says from krm's link thatits cancelled. No reason has been given as yet.

I'm just curious as to where the family member illness reason came from.

The thing about illness is in the purple box on this site: http://www.paradam.pl/ I hope this is only mistake and the european tour won´t be cancelled...but I´m affraid of cancellation the Prague show as well. The selling is really poor, in this time hardly half of seats is sold... :(

VG, if you click on "Buy Tickets" for Warsaw date, you'll be redirected to a Paradam Agency site, where you can read the following information in Polish :

Z ogromną przykrościa informuję, że planowany na 15.11.2011 koncert Elvisa Costello, ze względu na ciężką chorobę bliskiego członka rodziny artysty, został odwołany.

Google translation :
With great regret to inform you that the concert scheduled for 15/11/2011 Elvis Costello, due to the severe illness of a close relative of the artist, has been canceled.

But yeah, a thought of low ticket sales (very expensive, by the way), did cross my mind as well.

Thanks for the translation.

I'm hoping that part of this decision to cancel this slightly odd tour is because of the ticket sales in places where tickets aren't selling very well. But we shall see.

I will retain my optimism for the moment.

With the following shows announced at the end of the tour:
2011-11-12 Oslo, Norway,
2011-11-13 Stockholm, Sweden,
2011-11-14 Malmö, Sweden,
2011-11-15 Warsaw, Poland,
2011-11-17 Brussels, Belgium,
2011-11-18 Eindhoven, Netherlands,
2011-11-21 Reykjavik, Iceland,
I personally would find it strange to have just the Poland show cancelled "due to the severe illness of a close relative of the artist". Any logic would indicate that a few more shows should be affected as well. I hope I am wrong, and as VG says "I retain my optimism for the moment" and assume that the Malmö show is not affected.

I will put off booking flight and accommodation for Eindhoven until a little nearer the time. According to the "Dance Card" section of EC.com, the shows in Antwerp and Amsterdam (9 and 10 November) are sold out. Mind you, that same section of his website fails to list the Eindhoven date at all (and never has done), so it is not the most reliable source.

The "illness of close family member" story was used to explain the cancellations of a week's worth of US dates in the middle last month was it not? It could be true, but hard to see how it has an effect so predictable as to affect a single date five weeks hence...
