RIP Eric Rohmer
For a long time my favorite French 'auteur'. The list of his films: My Night at Maud's, Claire's Knee, Pauline at the Beach, Summer, The Romance of Astrea and Celadon, Chloe in the Afternoon, Boyfriends and Girlfriends, La Collectionneuse, Full Moon in Paris and many more are so vibrant for me. Watching one of his films was like viewing a montage of memorable paintings- I love his eye. The conversation that fills his movies has always been the hum of human contact for me. People just talking about their daily lives and their feelings in everyday settings. The interplay of men and women was his subject and I never got tired of his exploration of that dichotomy.
