'For all her finger-snapping arrangements Krall oozes jazz like a startled puppy does calm under pressure. Jazz, I suspect, is rather like funk - if you have to ask, you'll never know - and Krall is the girl with hand aloft, volunteering for extra homework. You'll never hear anyone put such effort into Jingle Bells or Let It Snow, jolly little ditties which should be delivered with nonchalance or not at all (refer to Dean Martin to hear the latter done properly).'
