Minnesota's offense is too spotty. Santana may lose a couple more before the year's done.

Nice sweep by your Tigers! I'm a fan of Leyland - he has that team playing brilliantly!

Gagné to the Sawx. I'm happy to see that one of my favorite Dodgers ever is not going to the Yanks. Hope he gets himself a World Series ring.

Dodgers swept away by the Rox and our playoff hopes have been dashed. A lot of promising players on the horizon, but it's time to clear out the dead wood (i.e. Nomar).

At least I'm not a Mets fan. They are on the verge of a pretty spectacular collapse.

The Sox will still get into the playoffs though.....but it's getting very frustrating.

I'm hoping the Phillies catch the Mets purely because I have three of their batters (Utley/Rollings/Rowand) in my fantasy line up and they've done pretty well for me this year. I'd also like to see the Angels coming through the AL.
Are the Cubbies going to hold on?

I want to see them in the postseason if only to see how they manage to fuck it up in spectacular fashion. Bring back Bartman!

well of course. but you never know. the NL is so awful. the cards winning it last year was an inexplicable perfect aligning of the stars. i'm thinking a cubs/indians world series! how interesting that would be! i'm about as far away from a "homer" for the cubs after 40 years as you can be, but how bizarre that as of today they are in better shape than the mets, who have a higher magic number, are only a game ahead of the pads for the wildcard and have red hot team on their ass.

Mets in full Three Mile Island meltdown mode. What a choke job!

Mind you, my Dodgers are in an even worse state, with over-the-hill veterans blaming all the team's troubles on the young guns, the only ones who have done anything this season. Wait till next year!

And oily slick's Cubs are in the playoffs. Congrats!

Man, the Mets fucked it up. Unbelievable.

Congratulations to Nerdlingers on taking home the sliverware this year in our EC Fan Forum fantasy league. Very impressive.

Congratulations to all the Sox fans out there for making it back to the World Series again. I was in Cambridge at a family wedding this weekend and people couldn't wait to get in front of a TV set to watch Game 6. EVERYONE in my family (with the exception of me and my sister - Dodgers and Giants) is a Red Sox fan. About 12 people ended up back in my hotel room with the kids, huddled around the television. Then I got back exhausted last night and couldn't help but tune in for Game 7.

Should be an interesting World Series. Get your long johns on.

Great post-season for Sox fans, but it was pretty dull for everyone else. Worst World Series in recent memory.

When Rob woke up this morning, I told him that the Sox had won.

He said, "yeah, I would have been worried if they hadn't."

Yeah I saw that in the Post when I went to pick up lunch at the local deli. We'll see. He would be an improvement, but can he do anything about our starting pitching? Would be nice to have a few starters not undergoing career-threatening surgery next year.

Torre + A-Rod = Pennant for West Coast Team

I think it is great that both Torre and A-Rod are the first two baseball players to fire George Steinbrenner, that pompous arrogant asshole.

New York Times reports it now as well. Torre with Mattingly as bench coach. Grady's gone. Good man, but I have tho think this is an improvement.

Barry Bonds indicted by a federal grand jury and could do 30 years in the pokey. That's one guy off the free agent market.

Yeah I know. What a miserable guy he is. It's a shame, because he would have been a Hall of Fame player without the steroids. Incredible hand-eye coordination, a sweet swing and very smart about the strike zone. What a waste. He and the Giants deserve each other.

Andruw Jones, eh? I like the move, provided Juan Pierre gets dealt somewhere and not stuck out in left field ahead of Matt Kemp. Jones had a down year last season, but came on at the end and is an excellent defensive CF. Glad to see the Dodgers are not dealing away the youngsters.
