your request?

Post by legman open to offers »

I'm probably the only one here that has laid awake the night before an EC show and thinks ,What if Elvis looks at me and asks," What would you like to hear?"

Do you have an answer at the ready, or do have to flip through the entire catalogue to answer?

Maybe its something you have heard before, or a rarity that he never plays.

The top of my list is Man out of Time, something I heard him play before, but it was so stunning I would request it again. Crimes of Paris is another suggested by M. Alves of Olivers Army that I would love to hear live.

I hope everyone gets to see EC and the I's on this tour, and I also hope to meet some of you there!
Now I'm the invisible man, and you can't see me.

Beyond Belief. Heard it at many of the shows, and it remains my all time favorite. Once it is played, I can die peacefully and happy. That is my pick.

Not very cool, but honest.

I want to hear Hoover Factory, off mic. So much. And I want to hear Clean Money with the whole band. Almost as much.

Imagination (Is a Powerful Deceiver)

I love hearing Beyond Belief an Man Out Of Time but I can't recall any recent show where he didn't play one or both. I'm not sick of 'em, don't get me wrong.

I'm going to ask him to play All the Rage.
If I meet him more than once I'll ask him to play Jack of all Parades as well.

Now all I have to do is meet him.

I'm with Oily. Riot Act.

I've seen him many times and heard most of the songs that I really want to hear (like I'll Wear it Proudly) at least once. The only one I have not yet heard is Riot Act. After that, maybe Lipstick Vogue or I'm Not Angry.

Of course, there are some songs you didn't THINK you'd want to hear, but become unforgettable. The last tour with the IMPS, he played "Still Too Soon To Know" without amplification. It was incredible. During the same show, he also did a cathartic version of "I Want You" that was smiilarly unforgettable.

The real kicker is, I saw him the first night of a two-night stint at the Beacon in NYC and on the second night he played Riot Act. Ugh.

Another one for Riot Act. Or Tiny Steps. Or maybe Indoor Fireworks. Then I'd be evil and force him do Playboy To A Man just for a laugh.

On the current tour I'd like to see him do She's Pulling Out The Pin. Other than that I'm in the LV Riot Act camp. I'd also like to see him do Motel Matches which they've done at one of the gigs so far this tour.

Would requesting Little Goody Two Shoes be too obvious? 'Cuz I think it would be a lot of fun.

Black Sails In The Sunset

Oh, yeah, and Riot Act.

So funny, Legman....you are NOT the only one who thinks about this.

I finally saw the Austin City Limits performance a few days ago....wow, loved hearing him do The Monkey......but it started to make me think of what I'd ask him to play. I've always wanted him to do My Funny Valentine (I'm sure there aren't too many who want to hear that one.) I always thought it was so cool how he'd play these type of songs when he was younger.....like I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself.
ANYWAY, I have a red 7in. record with the little hearts all over it and I've always fantasized about asking him to sign it for me.
I don't know if I could do it! I did meet him one time and got my pic w/him but I was so dah, dah.....in awe, I didn't know what to say and I'm sure I sounded like a jerk.

I have never heard him do I Want You or Riot Act, so they're two biggies. Or Motel Matches either. Somebody mentioned Imagination (IAPD).....one of my absolute favorites! Wow, that would be so great too.
I'm not angry anymore....

I would love to hear "Oliver's Army" (sorry, it's a favorite of mine) or "Everyday I Write The Book" (The 'heavier' live version). Just my opinion.
