Gjennom artistnavnet Elvis Costello har Declan Patrick Aloysius MacManus gitt ut et trettitalls album både som soloartist og i mer eller mindre uventete konstellasjoner som teller både Paul McCartney, Burt Bacharach og Brodsky Quartet samt New Orleans-legenden Allen Toussaint. Sistnevnte samarbeidsprosjekt resulterte i albumet ”The River In Reverse”, ble gitt ut i 2006 og var den første studioinnspillingen gjort i New Orleans i etterkant av Katarina-katastrofen.
