A few blogs had this info. last weekend , totally
uncredited and unsourced , so I didn't post it here. I
was even going to make a comment to Elvis after
wednesday's show in Amsterdam , something like ' Good
luck with The Kids!' , just to see his reaction , but
chickened out . Of course , if I had easier access to
the 'net in Holland - very few 'net cafes around - I
might have caught the People item quicker.

Here's a blog from last Monday -

http://karenquinn.blogspot.com/2006/09/ ... -ends.html

Here's a little scoop for you. Mark was at a party
last night with a bunch of musicians, his usual
partying crowd. He was told by someone in the know
that Elvis Costello and Diana Krall are having twins.
I knew she was pregnant, but didn't know about the
twins. Well, congrats to Diana and Elvis. That's
fantastic. If either of the prospective parents should
read this, give me a call when it comes time for
nursery school admissions. I'll give you a free
consult.

Happy Fall.

There used to be a myth that expecting twins meant you had sex twice in one night . Certainly when my mother was expecting me 'n Martin back in the 1960's our Granny down the country used to be ashamed to tell of her condition, not wanting to cause scandal amongst her pious 'friends' who would regard the matter as a craven and sinful indulgence. Ah, yes , the good old days!

How did people respond to news of sextuplets?

I reckon it's two boys, as knowing their sex indicates they can probably see their winkles. If they call them Cain and Abel, Cain will get all the stick.

Is it an Irish myth? ... Funny how that "certain condition" doesn't bode well with Irish folk. Twins always freaked me out a bit... Although, if they are fraternal, it's not so intense.

Anyone ever see SCTV's spoof of the Patty Duke Show --- "Because they’re cousins... identical cousins... they walk alike, they talk alike... what a wacky pair!" Switch the words around and... identical "elvises"... they write alike, they sing alike, what a very cool pair...

Well, I can guarantee neither of them will be called Bruce.

I wonder if EC can still listen to a certain Monty Python sketch?

Is your name not Bruce?
No it's Declan.
That's going to cause a little confusion. Mind if we call you Bruce to keep it clear?

I wonder if they'll go the whole celebrity way and give them names guaranteed to get them beaten up at school.

Apple and Orange. Just so whatever happens to them, however alike or different their lives may be, it will always be comparing Apple's to Orange's.

I should be ashamed.

There's a fairly substantial interview with Diana Krall in tomorrow's NY Times:

Music
Playing It by Ear, in Her Life if Not Her Art
By STEPHEN HOLDEN

DIANA KRALL’S life is about to change. Sometime in early December, this Canadian jazz singer and pianist, who turns 42 on Nov. 16, is expecting to give birth to twins.
