Fantasy Football 2006-2007

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

So it's cool if my housemate joins in? I'll mention it to him.

I hope the deadline is next Saturday because I'm going away tomorrow.

Yes, certainly. We'd be happy to have your housemate join in. Matches begin on the 19th, a week from Saturday, and the deadline is 11:30 BST on that day. You can, of course, join after the deadline as well.

My squad has now been purchased and is in pre-season training. We beat 'The Golden Showers' 12-0 in a pre-season friendly and Steve Sidwell scored them all. Then I had a raunchy 'love juice exchange' with Catherine Zeta Jones and sat back in my pants with a nice curry and a few beers.

The fantasy has started already - bring on the footie!

I'm in and will do my best to defend last season's top spot.

This is going to be much tougher for me than the WC, as I really don't know much about the teams, e.g., which are particularly strong on offense or defense, which are relatively consistent and which are always a crapshoot.

But I've got my squad together, and outside the context of any actual play, I'd say it's brilliant!

MG, do you get Fox Soccer Channel? They carry several PL matches a weekend and if you watch it a bit you'll start to get a sense of the players, clubs, etc.

My twins have joined the league.
Hope you don't mind.

I do get it, and watch it. I hate the idea of watching matches on a delay, though, and they only seem to cover a handful of them live. I watch some of the delayed ones anyway, but it irks me. I'd rather follow them live on the 'net.

I agree. Not ideal. Setanta, which is available for a monthly fee on DirecTV, also will be showing live PL matches this season, so it will be footy overload for me. No PPV package this season - hurrah!

We can have a League within a League.

There will be a title for those who post on the Board and one for those who don't!

I need to change the name of my team. Fake Madrid has not brought me the success I richly deserve.

moody, did you just jump on board today as well?

A lot more teams this time around, with bunny still to join (she's away on holiday but has promised to give it a go again this season).

I see no Moodness. 17 teams, it would appear. 3 less than my work league. It's going to be an emotional year, I can tell.

Yep. Old Hammers Pathetic. I thought it was a clever pun on "Oldham Athletic", my team of choice. Obviously not!

Hint to you all - don't pick my players! I picked Dean Ashton, who then broke his ankle for three months. Poor bugger.

I'm in! I had to find a computer in the middle of Edinburgh to do it...but I'm in. Phew.

Yup, the Hammer is my housemate, Sam.

I'm off to a flyer, again. :(

Riise injured and I neglected to unselect Ballack as my captain (totally insane week at work and I didn't look at my team until it was too late to make changes). Oh well - at least Bent has scored.

I must have all of 3 points. I daren't look. Sheva will have to get a hat-trick tomorrow to make up for it, not to mention Giggsy.
