Elvis Costello met Metropole Orkest in Amsterdam

31 mei 2006, 20:00

The official website has this:

9/6/2006
Heineken Music Hall
[Buy Tickets]
Elvis Costello & Steve Nieve along side the Metropole Orchestra conducted by Alan Broadbent

9/7/2006
Heneiken Music Hall
[Buy Tickets]
Elvis Costello & Steve Nieve along side the Metropole Orchestra conducted by Alan Broadbent

With Alan Broadbent conducting (instead of Vince Mendoza - who conducted in 2004), this seems to mean that the programme will be similar to the 'Orchestral Tour" from this spring.

But if you follow the link it only directs you to the 6th September show. If you do a search on the ticketmaster site there is no link for the 7th either. :?

Apparently the second show is for VISA card holders only. I daresay the only way to check that further is to get on to VISA in Holland and see if they can help you. Or even get on to the venue and see if they can help. A friend in Amsterdam tells me he has a ticket for me so I'm sorted. He says he was lucky to get the the two tickets ( the limit for each card holder) so I can't suggest you contact him , sorry. The first night still hasn't sold out so - worst case scenario- you could chance waiting and getting a ticket on the night.

Well if they haven't sold tickets for the Wednesday show after all this time I daresay one would be able to get tickets on the night for the Thursday.

My Amsterdam contact let me know today that his
arrangement for seats for the second show fell
through. I'm still confident of getting hold of, by
whatever means , a ticket on the night .
However , out of curiosity , I sent a e-mail today to
Elvis' PR people , just to see if they could help.

It appears that the first show has [finally] sold out (tickets are no longer on sale through Ticketmaster).

I wonder what's happening with the second show :? . It took a long time for the first show to sell out. Is the second show smaller? Were tickets cheaper?

Good luck John.

Good luck John.
The fact that Ticketmaster doesn't sell tickets anymore has to do with the fact that the concert is less than eight days away. They need the time to send the tickets. You can problably still buy tickets at the regular selling places or at Heineken Music Hall.
Heineken Music Hall is a very good concert hall with great acoustics and it holds up to 3500 seats. I guess that for the first show more than half of the tickets are sold now, and the second show is sold out, due to the fact that it is presented as a special event, that is exclusive for VISA-holders (and problably has a special ticketprice).

I'm going!

The moon must be aligned with Pluto (the non-planet) or something.

I've got everything I need for the EC experience tomorrow night. I was going to listen to Il Sogno to try and get into it but I fear that with a poor night's sleep last night it won't help.

On behalf of the Board's UK members I'm going to ask why he's not playing here with Allen toussaint (although having asked him last year about the UK missing out on the Emmylou Harris shows I think I already know the answer :( )

Be sure to take a lighter and scream out "ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLISON" at the appropriate intervals.

Have fun, VG.

Hi from Amsterdam.

After the usual frantic dashing around airports 'n train stations I've had a large meal on a pavement table by a square off Spuistraaat and will now have a stroll to see the 'sights' before resting my weary bones. There wasn't a basket of fruit in my hotel suite ( actually , a basket of any description would have difficulty fitting into the cupboard I'm dossing down in) with a ticket for the second show so it doesn't seems like Elvis' PR people have got me one. Tomorrow I'll go to the venue and see what I can find out.

Weather - warm , balmy , dry.

By the way , the venue's site has something about a webcast-
