Elvis & The Imposters play New Theatre, Oxford, March 15, 2020

Post by Man out of Time »

Elvis and The Imposters play the New Theatre, Oxford on Sunday March 15, 2020 as part of the Just Trust UK 2020 tour. The theatre has a capacity of 1,785.

Elvis tweeted a series of images as clues to the venues for the tour. The clue for Oxford was this Mark 2 Jaguar car, of the type driven by Detective Inspector Morse in the Oxford-based detective series "Morse".

This will be Elvis' fifth show at the New Theatre, having first played there on New Year's Eve 1978, but his first show there with The Imposters. Ticket prices range from £96.75 to £57.35.

I'll be there; who else is going?

Unfortunately Goon Squad can’t make it to this so there is a Row E stalls ticket going spare.

It’s £100 but any reasonable offer will be accepted.

PM me if you are interested.

I was just digging out some stuff for Elvis to hopefully sign tomorrow in Oxford and I've come across my copy of Less Than Zero/Radio Sweetheart and noticed the B side label is on both sides of the single. Now I don't know if I'm having a senior moment but I can't recall seeing this before or have I just totally forgotten about it? I've Googled it and can't find any reference to it being a Stiff marketing tool to any if there are a few in existence.

Can anyone fill in the blanks?

I'm really looking forward to this gig. The way things are going it could be the last 'large gathering' I get to for a while. It's my 50th time seeing an Elvis full show.

It’ll be even rarer if it’s signed

THEATRE ANNOUNCEMENT:

“ It is with regret the @ElvisCostello show in #Oxford has been postponed due to the current escalating situation with coronavirus.

The artist's management will give further information on potential rescheduled dates as soon as they can.”

that's understandable - but a real shame for artist and audience alike.

Nothing on the theatre website as yet but if you click on the buy tickets link it says no dates found.

Very sad but not unexpected. My 50th show will have to wait. I'm glad I managed to get to Nottingham.

That's a great statement from Elvis on his website about the cancellation.

With no government statements about closing mass gatherings, it's great that Elvis took matters into his own hands - so sad for all who missed out seeing our hero, especially after the last tour was cancelled early too.

Tough times for the elderly and those with respiratory illnesses - and for those making a living in the whole entertainment industry, sports, restaurant, airlines, hotels, pubs, everything related. Eesh - how are they going to put bread on the table?

Love to all x

Good old Neil - great comment!
Mrs Sulky and I both retired at the end of February and now we’re both anticipating an early recall back to the NHS !! Just my luck - first cancellations in 2018 was bad enough but expecting now a resumption of our careers.

Oh Sulky - really? I hope you can have some peace and not get involved. But if you do - thank you!
