[quote="johnanderson"]Elvis’ voice was much better last night than it was in Liverpool. Just about glad and American without tears were most welcome. Two of my all time favourite songs.

There was a nice snippet of Subterranean Homesick Blues in the middle of an electrifying Pump it up.

On a side note, I’m collecting Labour politicians. Angela Eagle was in front of me in the queue for Liverpool and I bumped into Alan Johnson in Nottingham. Next stop for me is Sheffield, surely a good bet for a Labour Party dignitary or two.[/quote

Labour politicians rather than MPs since they’re now as rare as hens teeth !

Any transcription of the new words in Oliver’s Army, intrigued by the reference to Enniskillen?

I took a last minute decision to go to Nottingham last night. Originally I had planned Hammersmith, Oxford and Birmingham this tour. I didn't buy tickets in advance as I've started a new job which involves lots of last minute travel (I've just got back from 30 days in Northern Italy ) and the tickets are a bit expensive to buy and then not be able to use.

I ended up on the 2nd tier to the side but most of the balcony behind me was empty so I decided to move to a higher, more central position with no one sitting within 20 feet of me. I was approached twice by the different ushers telling me no recording or flash photography despite me doing neither.

I have to say the sound wasn't terrific from my vantage point. At first I thought his voice was giving way again but then on other songs it sounded strong and powerful. So maybe it was the mix? American Without Tears stands out although I think that was the best version I've heard of Shipbuilding for several years. Burnt Sugar, From a Whisper, Just About Glad and Watch Your Step (stuck in my head all day) also stood out.

I can't do Hammersmith now. Oxford is looking very likely and Birmingham about 50/50 although its showing sold out.
My head is spinning and my legs are weak

No transcription yet, but see what you can do with this from Friday night in Liverpool ...

I heard "Enniskillen" too, when he sang Oliver's Army on Sunday night in Southampton. Also "BBC". Not at all sure how you get from one to the other. I can see how you might rhyme "Enniskillen" with "killing" or "shilling" (as in King's Shilling).

There's now a Southampton video too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGfopOHlPH0

I hear something like:

They say the times are changing
Peace on earth has come to pass
Although the war is raging
We'll see which one will be the last
Send our boys back to Enniskillen
There's a robot army does all the killing
And the BBC will beg you for forgiveness

...and then I can't make out the last line at all.

Something along the lines of

The times are changing
And peace on earth has come to pass
Although the war is raging
They say each war will be the last
Said the boys back at Enniskellen
There's a road block army does all the killing
And the BBC will beg forgiveness...

Then I can't get the last line at all :(

Haha - we both gave up on the last line

I think yours is probably closer than mine.

Thanks both. Not sure why Enniskillen gets name checked, maybe as it’s an historic garrison town, or maybe a more recent reference to the 1987 bomb?
