No mention of any support act(s) in the preview articles in either the Evening Standard (Hammersmith show) or the Newcastle Chronicle (Sunderland show).

£95 !!!!!!!!!!!!!, plus booking fee that will be over a hundred quid,

Sheffield City Hall has a very odd pricing structure. The front few rows of the stalls and the circle are often v expensive.

There are usually some well priced seats labelled “possible restricted view”, to the side of the front stalls. Unless Elvis is going to rock up with some huge amplifier stacks, they will be just fine. That’s where I’ll be, anyway.

If you don’t fancy that, the view is pretty good from the main stalls seats

Thanks John, we have agreed that we will limit ourselves to the £65s (+f.bf) wherever that will get us at the City Hall.

I will also stand ( ie jump and sway ) in Liverpool for £45 as close to the front as I can get. In the halcyon days of the Royal Court I used to regularly see Maria Eagle (currently MP for Wallasey) at the front on the barriers, I wonder if history will repeat in 2020.

See you in Sheffield, I expect I'll be looking down on you!

Maria and Angela Eagle were at the Palladium shows in 2016. Also spoke to Tom Watson on Twitter (not so much a fan of him anymore, admittedly) and he is also a big fan and loves Punch the Clock.

Well, that was a shambles! The tour announcement email tells you to click on the "shows" page for the presale and that page was blank!

Then when I finally found it I saw the front block available and every one I selected took me to an error. Then later selecting other half decent seats and actually *getting* them in my basket would lead to further errors when confirming. Awful! Had to try about 20 times.

But persistence somehow managed to wangle me row B for Southampton, row C for London (still amazed that appeared out of nowhere!) and row E for Oxford. Part of the die-hard fan in me really wanted the front, but I must be thankful I got such good seats considering what a mess it was! Tickets are very expensive, too. Card took a battering.

How did everyone else get on? Thanks Top for directing me to the right place!

Glad you got sorted Frankie

My heart sank when I spotted that EC's site had changed overnight and I couldn't find the pre-sale link. In a flat spin I rang Sulky, but he didn't answer :( , then went back to EC and clicked desperately and bingo, was put in a queue at 9.30 with a promise at 10am to be placed randomly with everyone else who had registered before 10. Got Sheffield side stalls Q10-12 (£65+£10 rip off) and in the bearpit at Liverpool.

Can now relax

Well after a tense start I managed to get some good seats at my preferred locations. Will keep an eye out for a couple more and may be tempted.

As usual I ran into problems booking a single seat at some
venues and find myself with a couple of spare tickets which are up for grabs, naturally at cost price.

Row A Blackpool
Row B centre section Edinburgh - gone to a good home

Send me a message if you’re interested.

Why are these things so stressful - like watching England playing football. Anyway, the bit we probably all scrolled straight past on the news page, about the forthcoming tour reads thus:

"JUST TRUST ELVIS COSTELLO AND THE IMPOSTERS

Elvis Costello and The Imposters bring their new show to the U.K. in February, 2020. Tickets On-Sale this Friday September 20th.

Elvis Costello and The Imposters will bring their new show to the U.K.
for their first tour of the decade in February and March, 2020.

The tour is entitled, “Just Trust” in answer to the musical questions: “Will they play my favourite song?," or, “Are they going to frighten the horses with songs that are rarely performed and send some of their old nags off to pasture?” When ticket holders ask, “Can I expect the hits of yesteryear and those of tomorrow?"

We say: Just Trust Elvis Costello and The Imposters.

This superlative ensemble - Steve Nieve on keyboards, Pete Thomas on
drums, and bassist and vocalist, Davey Faragher - are once again
augmented by singers Kitten Kuroi and Briana Lee, all of whom were heard
on the acclaimed 2018 Concord Records release, 'Look Now,' numbers from
which will find their rightful place among the highlights from one of
the most unique and renowned song catalogues in popular music.

E.C. and The Imposters finally get to bring one of their recent stage
shows to England, Scotland and Wales, with return concert engagements in
Cardiff and Edinburgh, which they visited as recently as the summer of
2018, while the date at the Sunderland Empire marks the first appearance
in the city for forty years.

The tour opens on February 28th at the Eventim Olympia in Liverpool, a
former circus on the West Derby Road and therefore on the singer's bus
route home from school during his years living on Merseyside.

The tour comes after a season of unlikely accolades in which the now
defunct British Empire finally acknowledged a member of the enduring
MacManus Clan with a medal that both friends and detractors have assumed
stood for the "'Orrible Bloody Elvis" medal and in the same year in
which Costello received a Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star alongside Spike
Lee, Billy Idol, Burt Ward and his former video co-star, Julia Roberts
and following in the footsteps of Fred Astaire, Ruby Keeler and Rin Tin
Tin, among many, many other stars of stage, screen and the radio airwaves.

Elvis Costello and The Imposters most recent record release
was the E.P., "Purse" containing songs co-written with Burt Bacharach
and Paul McCartney along with musical settings of words by Johnny Cash
and Bob Dylan. It is available from all reputable phonographic emporiums
or if you go fishing in the stream.

Get it while you can."

You will not find any reference there to a support act or acts, for anyone who believed the random Sheffield journalist who suggested that The Waterboys and Nick Lowe were also appearing (as they did last year at Blenheim).

Jeez, £10.10 PER TICKET service charges and facility fees is taking the piss more than a reissue with a previously unreleased bonus track.

Of course I've paid it :|

This was all very stressful. Fortunately MOOT prompted me to go via the shows section and all was well.

Was this another one of Elvis' cryptic clues? "Don't worry about following the link on the email my e-newsletter and website tells you, work it out for yourself".

I am in

Row E at Hammersmith
Row B at Southampton (5th row in real life)
Row BB in Birmingham (2nd row in real life)
Row E in Oxford.

A mere £441. Four hundred and forty one pounds.

No holidays or treats for the kids for a while.

And seriously, if anyone wants to buy me a ticket for my birthday tomorrow then please do!

So Hammersmith is sitting - very disappointing. Most gigs I've been to there recently having been standing in the stalls.

Crikey these are pricy!!!!
Only committed myself to standing in Liverpool so far. Think I'll rein in my expectations of number to go to.
Are there any others with standing?
I wonder if these prices will appeal to the "casual" EC fans if we are baulking at the prices on here. We shall see - would anticipate some places will struggle to shift tickets at these prices.
Can't you see I'm trying to change this water to wine

Despite many fans advancing years, I imagine quite a few more tickets might shift if they were a bit cheaper and standing - still, it's early days and I've not entered the fray yet !!!

The price will put casual fans off. My logic is that I didn't see him last year (apart from the free BBC recording show in Maida Vale), but the price of the cancelled Southend show was nowhere near £100 (probably closer to £60). Just how much does the addition of the two ladies cost?!

Some of the venues are smaller as well (less than 2,000 seaters).

All these complaints about "pricey" tickets are hilarious. Try buying a good seat for an Elvis show in NYC!

Hi John - no I am loyal to the only true Top Balcony at Goodison Park :D

My elbows aren't as sharp as they used to be, but being a bit of a shorta**e I am still attracted to the idea of being right at the very front. There's no fool like an old fool.....

See you on the barricades and up the Toffees.

Hammersmith, Row J, best I could find on presale at about twenty past ten this morning. Far too fecking expense but hey ho, no one buys music anymore.

Hope EC drinks plenty of Red Zinger tea between now and then - for his throat's sake!

OK I've used up all my birthday and Christmas credit and so far
Southampton E16, Nottingham B24, Sunderland I8, Sheffield Circle C57 ( standards dropping here !)Edinburgh - probably front row courtesy ExtremeHoney, (thanks very much), Cardiff CC32 ( I hope I manage to find the bleeding Millenium Centre in good time this time around ) and Birmingham P18 - hardly any duff seats in the Symphony Hall. My daughters will get me the Liverpool standing ticket and I've just heard my late father's house sal should complete imminently so my legacy is going on hotels, petrol and the best whorehouses in the UK   or possibly some Travelodges if Mrs. Sulky reads this
I may just give Glasgow, Blackpool and maybe even Hammersmith a miss since decent seats have all gone in London - unless any come up in different sales, later in the year!

I must admit I’ll be reviewing what happens on future tours. If £100 becomes the norm for decent seats then I’m not sure I can afford to give the same level of commitment.

Each ticket came with a ticket fee of around £11 per ticket which is a liberty.

Of course I would have gotten even better seats if I’d taken the selfish option and gone solo instead of answering Goon Squad’s phone call on Tuesday night

Now AEG seem to be rejecting every form of payment that i can muster - couldn't buy Manchester, or Oxford with one of two credit cards or Paypal - rubbish considering how much I've put their way
