EC Interview on "The Current" regarding ''Look Now''

Post by Man out of Time »

Better late than never, this is a telephone interview that EC gave in October last year, when he was doing interviews to promote the release of Look Now. The interviewer is Mary Lucia, for The Current on Minneapolis Public Radio. The audio is embedded on this page:

Two things of note - I love the bit where she says that Elvis "is known for so many things and wearing so many hats". So true! Also the ending, which I will leave you to enjoy for yourselves. It gives a good sense of how these things work in practice.

At the start of the interview with Mary Lucia for "The Current", Elvis refers to just having finished another phone interview (which I have yet to find) with someone in Texas . He clearly did a series of interviews.

This one was for "The Bridge 909" an NPR station in Kansas City. Elvis talks to Jon Hart about recording "Look Now", working with Burt, the benefit show he and Burt played in Solana Beach, the Painted From Memory musical, writing with Carole King and recording and writing with Paul McCartney.

In this studio interview for NPR's "All Things Considered" he also talks to Mary Kelly about "Look Now".

Helpfully the link (above) includes a full transcript of the eight minute interview.

Ha ha! Yes, the ending is chortlesome.

Fun fact: Mary Lucia is Paul Westerberg’s younger sister (not the one who inspired “Waitress In The Sky”). She’s a significant fixture of the Twin Cities music scene in her own right.
