Sorry MOOT but where was the hint about Cardiff? I missed that one.
I think I've seen Elvis there 9 times, only 1 less than my concerts in Brum ( no mention of the magnificent Symphony Hall yet either.)
Still large swathes missed off the map, such as South Coast, West Country ( and I DON'T mean Bristol, though that's another city I've frequented )
and some of the more regular arena from past shows, ( Basingstoke, Brighton, Southend, Stoke (Hanley), Leicester and one of my favourite venues, Sheffield City Hall !)

I saw this with the #justtrustUK2020 tag:

Not Cardiff, specific so it could be Newport or Swansea or Colwyn Bay again.

Also there was this one, which I am not sure we have decoded. "A song by Leapy Lee points the way "

https://twitter.com/ElvisCostello/statu ... 6276543489

Leapy Lee, born Graham Pulleyblank, was born in Eastbourne. Elvis has never played Eastbourne. It has the Royal Hippodrome Theatre built in 1883, which sounds the sort of place EC would like to appear. I imagine it might be just as much fun as Bexhill on Sea!

Thanks for the info, MOOT.
I think I wondered if the Little Arrows reference pointed towards Robin Hood and Nottingham, but this is a more exciting prospect. I went on a NALGO treasurers course at the TUC centre in Eastbourne in November 1987 and it was as interesting and exciting as you can imagine !

The “Song by Leapy Lee points the way” doesn’t help much as it sets the mind off in all directions!

The picture appears to be of a Welsh tea house (in Spanish) in Patagonia, Argentina.

Sulky - given this is a UK tour dates hashtag, where would this fit (I presume your reference to Steve is that he lives in France)? Are we acquiring France as part of Brexit?

Probably in the lunchroom of the Brittish Embassy. That must - sort of - belong to UK, I guess

Or the Cafe de Paris where we saw the fantastic Sold on Song show (or not as the case will be!).

Au Contraire! My guess is the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford. Guildford was the birthplace of Barry Evans (star of Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush). Yvonne Arnaud was born in Bordeaux, France.

But I could be wrong.

That’s a pretty sophisticated guess.

The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre holds 586 people.

Didn't Barry Evans have an awful death? I think he was murdered. He was a big star on TV in the late 60's early 70's

So slightly more than St. George's, Bristol, where EC played in 1995 and 2009 and which seats 562 people.

If not Guildford, then where in the UK?

Man out of Time wrote:So, based on Elvis' Twitter feed and the #justtrustUK2020 clues, I have this list of possible UK shows, to be announced in September 2019:
  • Cardiff St David’s Hall or Millennium Centre
    Edinburgh Usher Hall
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall or Barrowlands?
    Liverpool Empire or Philharmonic Hall?
London Hammersmith Apollo (date of 13 March 2020 has been mooted)
    Manchester Apollo?
    Nottingham Royal Concert Hall
    Oxford New Theatre
    Sunderland Empire

Any more? Given the tweet showing sticks of rock and mugs from Margate, Blackpool and Brighton, we might need to add those to the list too. Elvis played Blackpool Opera House in 2013 and the Brighton Dome in 2015.

We await confirmation of the dates and venues....

MOOT
My money's on Blackpool. We had 'Not your regular rock opera' picturing a stick of holiday rock, followed by another clue which was the above tweet picturing mugs and rock and 'Which way to go?' I.e. Margate, Blackpool or Brighton. Gotta be Blackpool...Blackpool ROCK...Blackpool OPERA House....not your regular ROCK OPERA.

It could be Brighton though - Brighton beach, Brighton rice and Quadrophenia - not your regular rock opera...

Elvis seems to favour Brighton over the years though I've never heard of Brighton Rice Pudding -

perhaps Graham Greene had a dessert fixation ?
