London meet up - Saturday 27th July

Post by verbal gymnastics »

At last - the UK news you wanted is now here.

Granted, we may not get an Elvis tour just yet (he’s just teasing us at the moment), but there will be a London meet up on Saturday 27th July.

Why settle for the Impostors when you can have the real thing - John Foyle, Sheeptotheslaughter, Neil., sulky lad, goon squad, KRM (making another international visit), Ian Sephton (who will have first hand news about the My Darling Clementine project) AND MORE!

And if that’s not enough for you, I’ll be there too.

It’s the usual set up - 2pm at the Woodins Shades.

Look forward to seeing you.

Looks like the female fans might outnumber the men for the first time in the meet ups that I have attended.

Mrs Sheep, Paulina, Janice, Clare and Susan are saying they will all attend.

Actually he seemed quite decent about it. Of course I will be amazed if he turns up but he didn't dismiss it out of hand.

It would be interesting to see Bruce. Sadly my copy of “The Big Wheel” is in storage. Is he doing anything musically these days still?

Bruce made that album with Spencer Brown a year or two ago. It seems he maybe doing more writing as hid Tyson Fury book followed his Man United book pretty quickly.

That’s impressive. We’ll get to grill them about it on Saturday. He might show up - you never know as he’ll know there’s no chance of any awkward encounters with Elvis and the Imposters

It's most of the usual lot (having missed a few meet ups you can't be classed as a regular  ) plus whoever who has been contacted through FaceBook. As I don't bother with FaceBook the attendees are usually a surprise to me as well!

The definites I know of are John Foyle, Sheeptotheslaughter, Neil., sulky lad, goon squad, KRM (making another international visit) and MOOT.

Look forward to seeing you! 8)

Cheers

Hi guys! I had a wonderful time meeting everyone. It was a really fun afternoon. Thanks for welcoming this American.
Oh and verbal gymnastics, I’m still not telling you the gossip.
I hope I can make it over for another one in Spring if EC does a tour. See ya then!

Great to see you all - especially Malcolm, Fiona, Debbie and Brian. Sorry if I got a bit loud toward the end.

Here's Withered and Died - Ms P., you need to hear this! https://youtu.be/hFd-kxrOwkg

And here's End of the Rainbow I was telling Mark S. about as we staggered out of the pub: https://youtu.be/bOubQpbfzAY

(But the version on KOA Rykodisc is a better version.)

Thanks for organising, Verbal! X

What a terrific afternoon!

The funny thing is that from the conversations I had Elvis wasn’t really mentioned at all. My only recollection was the lovely Cla(i)re telling me that she set next to me in the front row of Elvis’ last gig at Basingstoke. I recalled this because of her two distinctive Elvis tattoos. It really is much more of a friendship group now. The regulars know a lot about each other although Elvis is our common ground.

It was great to meet This year’s girl (you got the login sorted out then  ), Janice (who had come once before with some fantastic Elvis memorabilia) and Cla(i)re, as well as the usual crew.

My only regret is that the time went so quickly I didn’t have time to speak in depth to everybody, particularly sulky, johnfoyle and Neil.

Thanks all.

Ps Neil. - who are Malcolm, Fiona, Debbie and Brian?

Oh Lord, Verbs, I made up for it at my end of the table. I love geeking out about Elvis with you guys - I can't do it anywhere else. So you'll forgive me if I don't ask you about your families etc at these meetups - all I want to do is Elvisize.

Ha ha, soz - I was just joking about the fact that I never get people's names right until I've met them about 50 times.

PS Thanks to Steve, too, as he helped you organise it!
