That exchange in full:
JONPD wrote:In this weeks episode of BBC's legal drama Silk (one of the main characters is called Martha Costello):

Prosecuting counsel: In what name [was the room booked in]?

Witness: Costello

Prosecuting counsel: Name?

Witness: No first name just an initial, E.

Defence barrister - As in Elvis Costello. A singer, your ladyship

Judge - it's been a good year for the roses wouldn't you say, Mr Reader [name of the defence barrister]]

Defence barrister - but not so good for shipbuilding

Watching The Detectives played in a scene during BBC's new 1970's-based comedy The Kennedys.

Minority Report
Season 1 - Episode 4 - Fredi

Elvis Costello -
16 minutes in (including ads) At cocktail party Alison starts playing. Quietly in background. Host demands to know who put the song on. Then asks for it to be stopped. He requests something from this century.
Our hero, Vega, comments,"OK he hates good music."

49th minute in (including ads) We see the cover of My Aim Is True pulled up on the sound system. Alison starts playing loudly. We discover the host disliked the song because it was a song he liked playing for his dead girlfriend.

The show is not good and won't see a second season. I just can't resist anything with a Phillip K Dick connection.
The Man In The High Castle is way better. I am 2 episodes into that one.

Bonus - one of the ads during Minority Report was for Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats. it uses Alright by Supergrass. Now that was unexpected.

I put Goodbye Cruel World 2cd version on my IPod and played in shuffle mode. On three occasions the album track was followed by the demo version from cd2. Home Truth, Inch by Inch and joe Porterhouse. Once would have been coincidence now these things start to bother me. Any other EC related coincidences??

Swedish singer Martin Stenmarck who is performing in the qualification rounds for the Swedish contribution in the European Song COntest tonight is presented in a big article in daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
The article focus on his passion for singing, family, baking, manga etc but also some words about his guitar:

The guitar is a Gibson and the neck is mainly of pearl. It was built in 1933 and was named "Century of Progress". Elvis Costello had one of the original guitars before it broke. At the time, Gibson offered to make an exact copy of his guitar, and then they made about 300 units. When one of them came to Sweden, I was the fastest and first to get one. According to the certificate as it is finished on my birthday, which feels a bit like a sign.

Our son's wedding reception at Pepper Saint Ontiod, Isle of Dogs, recently. He and prospective bride had constructed two playlists. I was suprised and delighted to hear My Funny Valentine during the 'quiet bit'. Later came She and then Lipsick Vogue during the 'loud/dancing bit'.

CBS This Morning played 'What's So Funny About PLU' as they went into a commercial following reporting on the debate.

Radio 2 this evening, 5.30ish, on Simon Mayo Show, PLU was played as a request by several people for tonight's theme which was "making the world a better place".
Simon described it as "an Elvis classic" ! 8)

I just read U2's setlist for their Twickenham gig last night and it said they played Beautiful Day with a snippet of Alison.

I pressed submit too early!

It made me wonder if Elvis was there as he's certainly in England.
