Elvis hints at new release: Lupe-O-Tone's vinyl singles
In this Rolling Stone interview Elvis hints at a possible (quick) new release: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/featu ... ts-w485358
(...)
All that, and there may be new music on its way. "Keep an eye out," says Costello, who's enjoying the freedom of working without a record contract. "You never know when the next thing is going to appear."

Re: Elvis hints at new release
EC says on his website ( http://www.elviscostello.com/news/imperial-dispatch/904 ) : Look out for other Lupe-O-Tone releases of interest in the very near future.
Steve Mandell posts 10 hints on Instragram ( http://www.elviscostellofans.com/phpBB3 ... =2&t=11003 ) : July, She will fly / julybaby / Indoor Fireworks / New York City / EC at Summerstage / Far away / Lupe-o-Tone / Wise Up Ghost / Bright Blue Times vinyl / United Record Pressing - Test pressing.
If we combine all of this, this must mean that we will get an album with The Roots that will come out on Lupe-o-Tone in July.
Other guesses?

Maybe the live album with the Roots recently mentioned in Rolling Stone?

The Roots are playing in London on 2nd and 3rd July.
Elvis usually comes to England in July for his mum's birthday....

The new hints by Elvis and Steven have references to Paul Simon and Kojak Variety.
It looks like a Paul Simon cover album.

If it's a covers album with The Roots as a backing band , it could be mighty special and will need a IL your to promote with Steve as additional keyboard enhancement

Re: Elvis hints at new release
The Paul Simon Covers Album is a good guess. He's already recorded "Peace Like A River" and "Congratulations" . . . and that hint with the Statue of Liberty could be a clue for "An American Tune," which EC has performed live before . . .

The line "licensed from 4-Tet Records" on the b-side, combined with EC's recent dog-related tweets, has me 99% convinced the b-side is Lucky Dog, a song EC played a few times in 2010, introducing it with an improbable story about learning it from a record on the seemingly nonexistent 4-Tet label.
Welcome to Lupe-O-Tone’s first 10-inch 45rpm mystery sale...

Be the first on your block to have the latest ballad from 'The Imposter'
Song title to be revealed at full list price on the 4th of July

Elvis claimed he learned "Lucky Dog" from one Sgt. Larry Singer.
It looks like the blacked-out artist credit on the b-side (above "-ballad-") begins with "Sgt. L"...
The encore sometimes features a re-working of "Lucky Dog", a now forgotten Vietnam-era single on the 4-Tet label out of Fort Lauderdale, FL by Sgt. Larry Singer in tribute to the heroic exploits of his dog, "Lucky", who had once featured on the cover of "Life" magazine.

Re: Elvis hints at new release
I think this is all good news.
It's the first release with more to come, it kind of reminds me of "4 singles in July" to promote All This Useless Beauty in 1996.
No doubt that these songs will eventually become available on CD and streaming services as a new album.
Now that there is hardly any money to be made from streaming services, to sell a few thousand of each single may be the way to cover some of the costs.
Steven Mandel as producer is also good news. I think he did a terrific job with Wise Up Ghost.
Lucky Dog as B-side is also good news. Lucky Dog is registered at ASCAP as written by Elvis; it is not a cover. There is hope that it's not Kojak Variety, volume 2.

$80 shipping to the UK, I am out.
Re: Elvis hints at new release
Not wanting to pay c. €60 for postage to Ireland I tried ordering using a friend's U.S. address as the delivery address but the system still wants to charge me the same amount. My NY friend has ordered it for me , c. $10 postage , so about $25 overall. Forwarding cost to be determined.

It appears the a-side may well be "Go Tell Your Quiet Sister"... the lower shapes of "ster" are visible below the redaction.

"ster" also works for The Imposter, and the site says it's the latest ballad from The Imposter.IbMePdErRoIoAmL wrote:It appears the a-side may well be "Go Tell Your Quiet Sister"... the lower shapes of "ster" are visible below the redaction.
Charles on Facebook was speculating the A-side was "American Mirror." The July 4 release date and red, white, and blue label would certainly fit, and it looks like the letters at the top of the black bar could be AMER...
But given all the Paul Simon references in Steven Mandel's hints, it could also be "America" or "American Tune."
