Now then Bradders. Don't go embarrassing your two sons (you see what I did there VG? ) by shouting out song titles mid show, as I know - only too well - that you're inclined to do ! Have you gone off My Three Sons then? Have a wonderful time. Well jel.Bradwellboy wrote:That would be me , No1 son (Eoin), No 2 son (Declan), no he is not named after the man , but (St Declan of Ardmore) as it happens.

I thought over 5 years Birmingham,Mamchester and Cork was enough. So have gone for another Momo tune such a great album.
Thought i get the first five rows or so to call it out in Italian , No 2 son speaks Italian he can sort it out.
In the distance past was'nt All This Useless Beauty done a bit Italian

Enjoy the gig. I would be as well jel as Cocktail Murderess if it were not for the fact that we are enjoying a lovely family holiday in glorious sunshine and about to eat seaside fish and chips!

Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome, May 29, 2016. In an acoustically perfect place as the Sala Santa Cecilia Auditorium in Rome, may enter rightly only the greatest musicians and performers of all time, those who manage to overcome the barriers of bravura. And Elvis Costello has earned more than forty years of career, which began following the singer's father, well before the release of the album debut My Aim Is True, he arrived in 1976.
Elvis Costello knows, and shows that he shall gain the whole field. Its Detour - "deviation," this is the name that gave the dates of the tour in 2016 "Because where I come from, when you ask if you go somewhere, you say" I'm going to make a detour "" explained in the course of evening with the irreverent British humor - is a journey in stages not chronological but emotional, through songs, inspirations, friends, personal anecdotes of a very long life and subsequent career, performed with an intensity phenomenal in every little detail, even in the errors. Elvis Costello is alone on the stage with a few blacks goggles which then will change in favor of his squared classic view, mark the character factory. It is surrounded by guitars, microphones, modern objects and the screen of an old analog television dial, on which pass images and pieces of the past, photographs, films, newspaper advertisements. A journey through the detours, in fact, that Elvis Costello embarks like a Pied Piper who takes away his audience.
The British singer-songwriter seems to get naked in the size of the Auditorium, telling about himself and his adolescence, mentors, friends and inspiring. He devotes a moving commemoration for Allen Toussaint, the great blues musician who died in 2015 with whom he recorded an album in 2006, which recounts the genesis, carrying the whole room in New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina; He speaks of his father singer including it among its great masters along with the Beatles, with anecdotal lively and full of irreverent spirit, which appears to contrast with the delicate sweetness of the songs in the lineup.
Elvis Costello does not need superstructures: his skill is knowing how to excite even with an intonation deburring, to punk and revolutionary attitude that in him is matched by an equal melodic taste a few. This is demonstrated with Shipbuilding, written to tell the Falklands war of the eighties from the point of view of a worker in a shipyard, which captivates the entire audience making him dream, although the issue is not the happiest; and the inevitable Almost Blue, perfect even in poorly sung passages, to which paste All Or Nothing At All in a medley of Sinatra jazz flavor.
But Costello is, and he can do it. The voice is unmistakable: full bass, scratched and broken on high that persists stubbornly to face, gently suffered in the best moments are the ones where he pulls the plug, literally. Elvis Costello has the gift of the hushed narration and is proof of the wonderful Alison, perhaps one of his most famous songs, performed with separated guitar amplifier and without a microphone, walking among the front ranks of an astonished audience and nailed to the seats never miss a nuance. The Auditorium seems to shrink to become a small smoky club in some remote town, where Costello sings for a few close friends and not to a packed auditorium and where is the atmosphere to melt the hearts of all.
The last part of the concert comes alive with the electricity of the duo entrance Larkin Poe, young girls on mandolin and steel guitar that support Elvis Costello on backing vocals. After the elegant Alison, the feeling that he is to receive a slap in the face, but it is fully in the style Costello unsettle his audience jumping between genres, without losing consistency. The grand finale with fans who besiege the stage, just under his feet, and with I Want You so painful and intense, whispered a bit 'into the microphone a little' off, slicing his heart in slow motion, with a knife thin. A sincere and well-calibrated concert that reconciles the ears and feelings.

Sorry
There should have a 2 pics of the set list but it tells me I have exceeded my attached limit even though I have not attached anything.
Like what has been posted about Brescia show stated a 9 start but got to the venue With Steve Hanna and my sons and Larkin Poe were just finished.
Nice venue and his voice was great compared to the Palladium.
Met some others members/ people I have seen before. L have some pics but can't get them to load.
At the last encore I thought that people were getting up to leave, but they did indeed just stroll to the front,my son Declan joined them. I went backwards and up a bit to observe. I Want You was as stated, earnest is an understatement. Probably the best I have ever it.
If someone can tell how to post pics I shall put some up.
Sorry again my Daily Planet skills are poo.
Anyway a great trip with my sons and great to met Steve
