Preview by Michael Deeds in the Idaho Statesman on December 7, 2015:

"Elvis Costello to perform intimate Boise show

Highlights
Concert at Egyptian Theatre goes on sale Friday

Costello’s first show in Idaho since 2005

Singer-songwriter Elvis Costello is headed back to Boise for the first time in a decade.

Costello will headline an 8 p.m. concert Friday, April 15, at the 740-capacity Egyptian Theatre, 700 W. Main St.

Costello’s last visit to Idaho was a 2005 concert at the 999-capacity Big Easy, now called the Knitting Factory. That show sold out in advance.

Costello, 61, is on his solo “Detour” tour, according to a press releaes, which features him “performing with guitar and piano in front of a giant television set on which are projected family photos, mysteries, mottos and other mischief.”

Reviews have been exceedingly positive. Earlier this year, The Denver Post called it “The best showcase of (Costello’s) talent to date.”

Tickets for reserved seats go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at Ticketfly for $45, $75 and $100 golden circle."

Here's hoping indeed - eleven years ago this week he rescheduled a show in Boise after only getting through one song in the soundcheck.

More from ecsongbysong:
Assuming the new songs are all from a "Face In The Crowd" musical, "Town Called Riddle" is likely a top-of-act-one scene-setting song.

"Burn The Paper Down To Ash," meanwhile, is an act-two ballad sung by the female lead.

EC, introducing "Burn": He says it's "the story of a young woman who finds herself in the middle of nowhere confronted by the devil..." (1)

EC: "...and she sort of hates him, and is kind of maybe a little attracted to him -- that's the way it goes with devils..." (2)

EC: "...and she pulls up a seat at the bar, and considers just about everything in her life that she promised herself she would do..." (3)

EC: "...and that she's just about to betray." (4)
