Let's root for Johnny Cash in tomorrow night's MTV awards

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Let's root for Johnny Cash in tomorrow night's MTV awards

Post by BlueChair »

Johnny Cash is nominated for 6 MTV Video Music Awards tomorrow night. The 71 year old country singer/songwriter's latest video, 'Hurt', which was directed by One Hour Photo director Mark Romanek, has been getting a lot of attention in the past several months.

This should be an interesting event to watch. I worry that Johnny will get swallowed alive by the likes of 50 Cent, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, and Missy Elliot, but the fact that he is even getting nominated by a channel that prides itself on flavour of the day is a huge, huge deal.

Although it will definitely be hard to stomach the obnoxious performers and presenters they have lined up.

I like the video very much, even though I thought One Hour Photo was shite.

I hope Johnny kicks butt.

I bet you he'll win and I bet you he'll be there. Big emotional tv, that's what we need.

It's an astonishing video.

johnny cash's album (american iv) was better than probably every other album/song nominated put together. if there is any sense of fairness in the descision making process he'll win all six. but i fear fitty cent is just too "good" to beat. besides, a man who has been making amazing music for forty years has nothing on that guy who m & m gives props to.

popular culture isn't dead. popular culture is like a black hole. a wonderful place once but, now it's just a pit of nothingness.

Popular Culture is transient by nature. It's like the weather in Texas; if you don't like it, wait two minutes.

Now I know why I should NEVER gamble.

Ugh. Rap AND Pop. You're wrong, Blue--POP seems to be in...

See the crap at:

ONE lousy award out of 6! nominations:

Best Cinematography In A Video

Johnny Cash, "Hurt"

Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, "Work It"
No Doubt, "Underneath It All"
Radiohead, "There There"

I mean, think about it!! The award went to the Cinematographer, not Johnny.

Sucks.
