The advertised wording in NYC newspaper yesterday morning reads...."PRIORITY seating with book purchase." Yet, NO interviewer named. Hmmmm

I am planning to go, I called and they said you can buy the book earlier in the day but were not sure if you would get a ticket or wristband to get your space in line

There's no interviewer listed for this one because this is a book signing. So is the one on October 14 at Bookcourt in Brooklyn. The rest of the book promo dates, including the two in the UK, are interviews where you have the option to buy a pre-signed book.

I thought of that as well...however, when was the LAST time you were given a seat to await a signing. :D :D

You're welcome to hope in your heart of hearts for a performance, BA, but the interwebs tell me this is how B&N at Union Square normally handles book signings for big name authors. For example, see these Yelp reviews: http://www.yelp.com/biz/barnes-and-nobl ... ?q=signing

Excerpt of one: "Also love the author signing events - those just totally rock and you need to get there early to score a seat, most times its standing room only."

And another one, with some detailed info on how these signing events work: "They also have lots of speakers/book signings on the top floor. They always have about 200 seats but expand that to around 400 for more popular authors. If you're going here for a very popular author (for example I came here for Anthony Bourdain last week) and the speaking/signing begins at 7pm then getting there by 5pm is a good idea (after 6 forget getting a seat at all). In fact if you want a front row seat then 4:30 would be a good idea. If you've never been to an author event then let me clear up some things: it's free, there's no sign up necessary, you can take photos during the event, you'll be required to buy the authors book only if you want him/her to sign anything, and it's up to the individual author (and number of people there) if they'll sign additional items or if you can take pictures with that person. In the case of Anthony Bourdain there were too many people there so you couldn't take your photo with him but he did agree to sign anything as long as it was Bourdain related (books, dvd's, photos)."

Just got back from Barnes & Noble. Very big crowd. Elvis came out at a little after 7:00 pm and read a chapter from the book about his jobs before Rock & Roll (Elizabeth Arden, etc.), He then took questions from the crowd for about 15 minutes. I wasn't chosen to ask a question. Then he signed autographs, although the rules were very strict - no photos, no personalization of autograph, and no signing of memorabilia, just the book itself. They were moving the people along pretty swiftly so I only got about 5-7 seconds with him. I shook his hand and said a pleasure to meet you, then said something about being happy he included April 5th on the soundtrack, and he said "yeah, that's a pretty one." That was about it, I was extremely nervous meeting him so don't remember exactly what I said lol.

I was a little disappointed there were no photos, that was kind of the reason I went. I also brought a set list from Port Chester for him to sign, but it wasn't allowed. One interesting story, he was talking about his involvement in movies and TV (someone asked him why he did Spice Girls, and another person asked him about his appearance on Two & a Half Men), and he pointed out that the older brother from E.T. was in the crowd, who had sung Accidents Will Happen in one of the scenes in that movie. I have to go back and watch the movie again now.

From the initial movie house viewing of E.T. way back then, I remember THREE Elvis references. A poster on the kids bedroom wall, the singing of Accidents and remind me of number three if you do get around to watching Mike. Thanks...sorry no photo opp together.

I don't think I've seen the movie since 1982, so I don't remember ANY Elvis references, so I definitely much watch again.

Elvis was certainly in fine form, he was non committal when I asked about the PFM musical but did say he liked the new Liverpool manager. Making a joke Stephen Merchant could play him in a movie.
