I hadn't been born in 1981 and was only just becoming a serious fan in 2007, so I was at neither.

Were these Attractions/Imposters shows?

1981 was the Attractions. It was two halves, the first centered around Almost Blue and the second right after midnight, a regualr set but with a half dozen songs from the forthcoming Imperial Bedroom. Amazing show. during the intermission, Steve stayed onstage and played piao, finishing up with Auld Lang Syne, as Elvis wished up Happy New Year!

That's right, BA. I forgot to mention McFee!
Didn't make it to AC in 2007, I've never been to AC. Seems hard to get to.

2007 was Imposters and an excellent (albeit abbreviated) show was highlighted by a Get Happy mini set in the middle

Haven't seen much of the Imposters since then besides the shows opening for The Police and a few scattered others. This was like the EC&I shows earlier in 2007 when the reissues came out - straight ahead rock and without a particular album to support freedom to choose songs and tear through the sets - saw them on both 5/14 and 5/16 in NYC

Since this show was at a casino - no stage patter just songs, songs, songs - except for Sharpest Thorn which was they played as midnight struck and EC spoke about being set on a "night such as this" The New Years setlist was:

01. I Hope You're Happy Now
02. Tear Off Your Own Head (It's A Doll Revolution)
03. Uncomplicated
04. Waiting For The End Of The World
05. Radio, Radio
06. Either Side Of The Same Town
07. Clown Strike
08. Human Hands
09. (I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea
10. Brilliant Mistake
11. Beaten To The Punch - including Some Other Guy
12. The Imposter
13. I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down
14. High Fidelity
15. Man Out Of Time
16. The Sharpest Thorn
17. 13 Steps Lead Down
Encore 1
18. Alison
19. Lipstick Vogue
20. American Gangster Time
21. Beyond Belief
22. Clubland - including Insensatez
23. Mystery Dance
24. Pump It Up
25. (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding?

I'm sure others can share much more (and I might have even made a post that night - will have to look)

I was at the 2007 show with Who Shot Sam? and his wife, and had a very memorable time.

New Years 2011 was spent with Oliver's Army Band, Elvis Costello tribute band, at The Fillmore Club in Plano TX. Peace, Love and Understanding was the first song of the new year

I was there in 81----"almost blue, almost 1982"

It was an amazing night with so much of imperial bedroom appearing...

As reported by others, I recall the Steve interlude that led into "happy new year"

Great fun--thanks for posting
