Elvis & The Imposters play Brighton, 22 June '13

Post by Boy With A Problem »

Who's going?

I'm planning on it, but I don't have a ticket. Anyone have an extra? It looks like there are plenty still available. Should I just wait and get it the day of the show? Are there any sections of the Brighton Centre that should be avoided? Meet-up plans before the show?

Questions questions...

I'm going but try not to let that put you off.

Try and get a seat in the stalls if you can as last time standing up was encouraged. I ended up dancing a lot with Neil. so it proves my dancing attracts the attentions of both males and females!

Getting a ticket now or later is up to you. Try to avoid the sides if you can.

I'll be there, hoping for a reprise of "Cool for Cats" or some such. We will be sure to hear "Tramp The Dirt Down" again.

The Fiddler's Elbow for a meet up? On Boyce's Street - a little street off of Queen's Road - accross from a large Wetherspoons pub called
the Bright Helm......less than 5 minutes walk to the venue.....

Sounds good to me but it will depend upon when I get there. I won't get to Brighton until about 7pm and will need to grab a quick something to eat.

My directions - as usual - are a little incorrect - Boyce's Street is just off West Street not Queen's Road (at some point I believe Queen's St. Turned into West Street) bBoyce's Street is Very narrow.

Really brilliant show.

Highlights -
She (a song I've never liked but his voice was sublime)
Anna (the Arthur Alexander song recorded by The Fabs)
The encore - 3 acoustic songs (due to problems with the power) - Alison, Gods Comic & Accidents Will Happen
Good year for the roses
Blue Chair & Human Hands (personal favourites)
The Other Side of Summer
An amazing Tramp The Dirt Down

Elvis did seem a bit tired at times. He played Red Shoes way too slow but then perked up later.

Shipbuilding was sung virtually out of tune until he took his ear piece out about half way through the sing and it was perfect from then on.

His Napoleon Dynamite persona was very, very funny. Much better than on the last tour.

The spinners were good value tonight too, I thought.

Now to bed...zzzz

Am buzzing after a great gig.

It was a bit odd - it's a raised stage but loads of us went to the front for the encore.

We got Chris Difford who sang Take Me I'm Yours with Elvis. More importantly, having asked Elvis to play All The Rage after the Southend show, they did it tonight. Was thrilled and did a one man standing ovation. :D

We also had the most incredible ending. After PLU they took a bow and Elvis said they'd do one more song. I was expecting I want you but the sound went off and they had no power. Elvis sang Alison straight strumming an unplugged guitar. Then he played Gods Comic and they finished with Accidents will happen.

New songs - Slow Down, Anna (covered by The Beatles and completely improvised for one of the spinners), Blue Chair, Miracle Man, Take Me I'm Yours, All the Rage.

Also Davey smiled and mouthed Hi to me while playing.

The Napoleon Dynamite persona went out of the window. Most of the show was Elvis as himself.

There was a funny moment when Josephine brought the next couple onstage before Elvis had played DDTM. They waited and the walked back down the steps. Elvis didn't notice.

Also Steve played Do You Think I'm Sexy in Chelsea.

Additionally The Last Time was played as a few verses rather than just singing "This will be the last time".

I sat next to a couple of people who had spin the wheel in Paris (it came up with Detectives/Hoover Factory - guess what was picked...) and they were chosen to spin the wheel. Perhaps Josephine saw them next to me and thought I'd tag along or something as they did not go onstage.

I think there could be a curse of VG - what with the dancing lady at Birmingham and this experience

If you want to be cool stay away from me!
