Fan meet up, London , Sat. Nov. 10th

Post by johnfoyle »

I'm going to be in London on Sat. Nov.10 for Joe Jackson's show at the Cadogan. Would anyone like to meet up that afternoon?

I won't be there but looks like you're in for a treat. Just an amazing version of "Target":

And an excellent DVD of the AXS-TV live broadcast from Sept 25th in Red Bank, NJ is available as a torrent:

I'm going to see Sean Lock at Leicester Square Theatre that evening so I should be able to drop in at some point, will probably be later on though.

I have heard rumours that a certain VG also has tickets for the Lock show.

I, too, really wish I could. Now having had an evening's taste of the dinner table company provided by one, VG, I am anxious to continue the experience[I have been working on my 'anecdotes']. Unfortunately it comes down to paying the youngest daughter's tuition bills or booking my British Air tickets for me and the missus. Family, and her education, always wins. But one of these days. I need to go toe to toe with VG in conversation and libation consumption on his 'native' ground.

Those rumours - probably started by myself in an attempt to make myself appear windswept and interesting - are indeed true.

I'm in. John - if it's ok with you - could we meet at the Garrick Arms? If it suits you to meet somewhere else then that's fine with me. Just name the time and place and I'll be there.

As there are a number of our American cousins who would like to meet up, perhaps we should look at a European meet up in 2013 or something.

If it was Lambchop at the same venue the previous evening you were seeing, I'd be with you. Have you seen that So Lacklustre will be at the same gig as you?

We can compare notes on Cadogan Hall afterwards.

Joe Jackson, by the way, appears to have had his genes replaced by Vulcan ones:

A small, select gathering, we all had a good time catching up on everyone's news and, er, occasionally mentioned Elvis! Me, Verbal, MOOT, Andy , with late apologies from others - aren't we all such busy bees.

The trip was primarily for Joe Jackson and that worked out well. The Cadogan has good acoustics and a mostly older audience listened attentively. A few in a side balcony did get up and bop a bit. Mr J. seems to be a bit delicate , looking exhausted at the end, literally tottering of the stage. Besides the current Ellington pieces he did rejigged, interesting versions of his songs, a highlight being a tuba dominated version of 'Going Out With Him.

Though at least he doesn't look as bizarre as in the photo above. Sounds like he should be less of a militant fag sucker:

Interesting place, Cadogan Hall. Pronounced Ca-DUGG-an. Perfect for Lambchop on Friday, sandwiched between two nights of Joe on Thu and Sat. Did you see So Lack there? (Though hang on, he went Thu and you Sat, right?)
