I wish I'd seen that Happy jackpot.
Good setlist - and a good way to end the tour.
I didn't think we'd see the Songbook this year. I think we'll see the wheel and a slightly different format next year.

I'll be in Amsterdam tomorrow night. Why couldn't Elvis have hung on a week?
Will have to settle for Holland v Germany in a bar instead...

I've been listening to this audience recording (still seeding on dime) and thoroughly enjoying it. The quality is the best sounding boot I've heard this year at least, if not the whole tour. Perfect atmosphere, sounds like a smallish intimate venue, Elvis wit is razor sharp with all the best anecdotes and the setlist is amazing. Last night of the tour the band seem to be really enjoying themselves and it's amazing that Elvis seems to know which songs are popular at which venue, "Less Than Zero" seemed ecstatically received. Then there are the bits where Elvis talks candidly about his father and how he sounds genuinely happy to be back playing, coupled with a happy Birthday to Dixie (Melissa) wound up in a killer version of "WTD" .
I enjoyed the Liverpool show, but the Glasgow atmosphere seemed a little flat in the upper balconies.. European audiences seem a bit more willing to let themselves go a bit I will be sure to make a visit to Amsterdam if he plays there any time soon..

Enjoyed the orange suits, wigs, wearing a stetson and over-sized glasses, and the huge eupohoria when RVP finally got one, but what a bummer of a result. I love the immense Dutch fanatacism - would have been so much fun if they'd beaten the Germans. July 7 1974 was one of the darkest days of my youth - about to turn 10 and a passionate admirer of Cruyff and Neeskens.krm wrote:could be entertaining as well!Otis Westinghouse wrote:I'll be in Amsterdam tomorrow night. On a more positive note, Amsterdam is one of the most lovely flowerings of human civilisation anywhere. Seeing Elvis there at the end of this great tour would have been perfection, dammit.
