Any plans of where to meet?

Maybe the Spitfire bar at the venue if no one has a better suggestion?

MOOT posted this on the thread for the 24th May show.
Man out of Time wrote:BTW, somewhere on the M40 on Monday night, VG and I tentatively agreed a meet up prior to the RAH shows next week. The venue I would propose is the Goat Tavern at 3a Kensington High Street, London W8 5NP

http://www.taylor-walker.co.uk/pub-food ... /pid-C3052

The nearest tube station is High Street, Kensington (District and Circle Line). This pub is a little walk away from the RAH, but it has the merit of being easy to find for our overseas visitors attending this concert.

The Revolver Tour shows are starting pretty promptly just after 8pm, and there is no support, so I would suggest we need to leave the pub no later than 7.40pm. I will aim to be there from around 6.30pm, if others want to join us. If it helps your travel plans, you will know that the Revolver shows run pretty much right up to 11pm most nights, but there will still be underground trains and buses running for a good hour after that, so we may see you at the Stage Door.

If you want to text me before either show to meet up, my cell/mobile number is +44 (0)7795 121146.

MOOT
So I guess it's a 2 night stint at the Goat Tavern as well. 8)

If all goes to plan I'll be meeting up with sulky and Natasha in the afternoon. I'm around from about 5pm.

If you don't know me, then look for the dorkiest bloke in the pub (the one all the women are avoiding). Alternatively PM me if you'd like my mobile/cell phone number. As ever, ladies, form an orderly queue  .

Going both nights at RAH and can't wait !
I don't ever remember being so "up" for an EC gig before.
Despite having seen him dozens of times over the years going right back to the early 80s and days of The Rainbow and Hammy Palais , I never got to see the Spinning Songbook so I'm buzzing with anticipation !

It looks walkable from Gloucester Road, which is easier to get to than High St Ken.

Cant remember If it is Gloucester Rd or South Ken It is just a walk up the road. Last time we went to a student bar around the corner. Definitely easier for the RAH than High St Ken

Anyway we will try and make the goat. Beautiful day looks like I will be wearing shorts. Off to sunbathe for an hour then start warming up for the gig.

Anyway look forward to bumping into some of you there hope its a great show and everyone has a great night

Costello finished with an epic (What's so funny 'bout) peace love & understanding. Including 2 drummers, 6+ guitarists & an organ solo.
There are a couple of cryptic remarks suggesting Ronan MacManus appeared at some point as well.

Elvis Costello's near three hour set at the Albert Hall certainly went from the sublime to the ridiculous.
The sublime: A lot of rarely played 80s stuff - Long Honeymoon, Beyond Belief, Everyday I Write The Book, Tramp The Dirt Down (!)
Great takes on Get Ready and I Still Miss Someone. A Slow Drag With Josephine with one of the verses performed off-mic.
American Without Tears and Little Palaces with the whole MacManus clan.
The ridiculous: Guest appearance from, erm, Russell Crowe - murdering Folsom Prison Blues and erroneously announcing it as an Elvis Song

It was good to meet up with Sulky Lad, Verbal, The Roofdog, Sheep to the Slaughter and others, including Ronny from Norway. I trust Natasha made it to the show.

Elvis was joined on stage by :

The Bible Code Sundays (for American Without Tears and Little Palaces);
Martin Belmont
Russell Crowe
Glenn TIlbrook
Tennessee Thomas (although her part of the stage was behind her father's drum kit, so it may not count as the stage.

The final version of Pump It Up, featured all of the above, and Steve Naive on the Mighty Royal Albert Hall pipe Organ, which fills one side of the hall above the stage. It was still not enough to be heard above three drummers, four or five guitarists, a fiddle, an accordian and probably something else besides. I think I counted twelve people on stage at the end, and that may not include Steve who was high above it at the organ.

Musically, the highlights were "From A Whisper To A Scream" and "Shot With His Own Gun". Frankly the finale was a mess.

It was wierd seeing Martin Belmont again. The last time I saw him play was at the Old St Pancras Church at the recent launch of "My Darling Clementine" - the new duet album by Lou Dalgleish and Michael Weston King, on which Martin played. I saw Michael and Lou at the Birmingham Revolver show, but rather than being on stage, they were in the audience. Martin can still play, and as I think he is still touring with Michael and Lou, I commend their show to you, as I do their album.

Expect more chaos tomorrow night.

Martin is still very active in the music scene. As most are aware, Graham Parker has reunited with Martin and the rest of the Rumour for an upcoming album and (hopefully) tour. In addition, GP and the Rumour will play a major role in Judd Apatow's new film to be released in Dec. 2012.
