Pre-show music- Revolver Shows

Post by mark dittenbir »

Attended nights 2 and 3 at the Beacon- couldn't ask for more from EC. Really phenomenal- I esp loved all the covers mixed in the shows-Stones , Beatles, Who - There's a trinity .

I love the music Elvis selects to fill the pre-show /milling about/getting to your seats time. The same stuff was played both nights ( and probably the entire tour). Can anyone identify a bluesy tune that played just after a reggae tune and just before the Stape Singers- I'll Take you There.
It had a male vocalist and the lyric was almost spoken rather than sung. Had horns prominently featured . Almost like a Howlin'Wolf song but I don't believe it was him. I really couldn't make any of the lyric out clearly ( maybe I' m gonna /wanna rock you) but the rhythm hooked me.

I'd love to get this on my iPod- can anyone help?

thanks

Also...what was that "Rise Robots" thing that proceeded the band's entrance each night I was there? Anybody know?

I think that from looking at the setlists on the website, that the Overture names and descriptions of the various ladies are fantastic.

Gulliver's Travels Beyond the Moon - Rise Robots Rise

http://letsanime.blogspot.com/2008/07/g ... -moon.html

(extract)

This 1965 Toei film was originally titled Gulliver's Space Journey and was directed by Yoshio Kuroda. It was released over here by Walter Reade-Sterling and Continental, two names that have long ceased to mean anything in Hollywood, but which spent the 1960s importing Japanese films (Ghidrah the Three-Headed Monster), British films (This Sporting Life) and fake Cinerama travelogues (Mediterranean Holiday).

This is a good spot to mention the film's musical score, by Milton & Anne DeLugg. Mr. DeLugg has written songs for everybody from Perry Como to Frank Sinatra, from Morey Amsterdam to Soupy Sales. He wrote the music and was the bandleader for Chuck Barris's Gong Show. Milton's talent is in full effect here - Gulliver's Travels Beyond the Moon is hands down the best American-made soundtrack to any Japanese animated film ever. Sprightly children's chorus singalongs, jazzy orchestral brass, atmospheric keyboard work - it's all here.
